nah. Limited impact on games. Low end product. And that was championship. Like Patto, helped win us the playoff final and contributed in parts of the season but not good enough for the prem
yeh don’t get me wrong I’m not rushing to sell him. I just don’t think he’s good enough. Put it this way I’d rather O’Nien was starting games than Roberts
If we’re in discussions over Talbi, Petrovic and hopefully Mikautadze I expect that’s close to £60m. Still need a few players obviously but we’ll still have loans available to use. I’d like a few experienced heads in, I’d snap your hand off for Henderson now he’d be invaluable especially losing midfielders through AFCON. If those 3 come in it’s starting to shape up very nicely for the start of the season.
I would keep Roberts around for the season personally. I know many dont rate his end product, which is understandable. I still think he has something of offer. We know he has become a better defensively minded winger and his tracking back is good. He was so good with Amad, maybe Diarra brings something out of him. Maybe he is the sort of sub who comes on and gets us higher up the pitch or wins us free kicks in the final 3rd. Has he looked bettee when there was natural balance on the left to give us a dual threat - yes for me. Most of all, and my hobby horse, we simply have to retain some of what was our key ingredient last year, togetherness. We are in danger of losing most of last years leadership group if we arent careful.
I've said it before, I have a weird feeling Roberts will step up and handle the premier League well. But until he adds some goals, or even just the threat of them, to his game he will always be a liability and make us easier to play
Yep roberts shouldn't be sold, we need to keep some continuity in the squad Especially if plsyers like Patterson, Cirkin and Neil go - just mentioning them as Patterson been linked away and the other 2 haven't signed new deals yet
They’ll be integral in building “ the group”. I don’t want wholesale change, massive risk we lose squad cohesion that way. I wouldn’t want to lose anyone that played more than around ten games last season.
Yeah probably not. I think he’s a better fit for what I had in my mind of what we need though. Looks a genuine option both sides from an initial YouTubing. Decent bet that he’ll play a lot on the left for us.
Yeah mate, I am getting more and more nervous about Neil. Lets see what happens this next week I would say. I have even started to think who I would want to replace him, which makes me emotional tbh. I old school and sentimental about players as you know. I am still gutted about Watson and Jobe, Neil will break my heart if he goes. I really hope it is to a good European team if it happens. He is the sort of cultured and classy midfielder that Italian fans would absolutely love.
If we could get a left footed player who can play both sides we’d be completely covered for all eventualities - and importantly (in my view) we’d be leaving a bit of room in case Mundle (or even Pat!) smashes it. Really good squad building in my view.
I know you don’t want to think about it but I’m a cold hearted bastard. Who have you come up with to replace Neil? I was wondering if that Stach fella would be a good fit. Had the added benefit of stealing another Leeds target
