I do like N******** Brown Ale although I am sure it is brewed in Tadcaster now. I Like Double Maxim, bottled or draught although I do find the draught a tad heavy, and I also like to look out for locally brewed ales.
Maximus at 6.6% is a killer tho.

With all these independent / micro breweries the field has changed. I generally have a look what’s on offer and take pot luck. Some you win some you lose!

but if I had to choose one before I went in the pub it would be Guinness

I'm not really a stout drinker, but I've no doubt it's lovely, particularly in Ireland.
As for crafts, I'm like you, try as many as possible and prepare to be disappointed now and again. Getting a good one far outweighs the disappointment of the not so good ones.

The bad ones are usually very bad tho. I was in a pub and without naming it it has in the past been known as Fitzgeralds, and as I was blotto I saw this Fruit Salad IPA and unfortunately requested a pint of it. It was fkn horrific and truth be known I should have realised that. Anyway I still drank it haha.

I was in a pub and without naming it it has in the past been known as Fitzgeralds, and as I was blotto I saw this Fruit Salad IPA and unfortunately requested a pint of it. Yeah mate. I never touch those types, they're made with fruit instead of hops, so are nothing more than an alcopop. Fitzies normally has 4 on, but 1 or 2 are Wearside-based breweries, which I previously mentioned are way behind their Tyneside counterparts. For a good choice of beers, there's only one place in Sunderland and that's the Ship Isis.

Get yourself round Ouseburn. There's the Two by Two, Full Circle and Almasty breweries within a mile of each other and the Free Trade Inn, which is outstanding. I went round Newcastle last Saturday and there's some great pubs around the Haymarket and just off the Bigg Market, who serve craft and regular beer and are pleasant places to drink.

Any Rat beer. Never had a bad one yet from that brewery. White Rat is a great session beer and my favourite.

Gambrinus is owned by the Pilsner Urquell brewery. Bernard is sold in Czech Republic and surrounding countries, like Hungary and Slovakia.
I have had Krusovice a few times in Head of Steam in Durham. Budvar is sold in the Bridge Hotel in High Street.

I lived in Prague for 6 years so got to know some cracking Czech beers.

Funny things is we’d never drink Staropramen - it had a very poor rep as the city brewery.

it was always Gambrinus on a session or Pilsner if going for less than 10! Beer was so easy to drink as so few chemicals . I Never got a hangover on Czech beers.

Always liked a bottle of Krusovice too, and many other more obscure local breweries did great stuff.

The weirdest drink was their Radler - version of our shandy. They’d mix half pilsner half Fanta… one weirdo once did it with coke rather than Fanta. Just no…..and they were doing so well with the beer…

The Isis is a cracking pub.
Rare I go through Newcastle but might just make an effort during the close season. To be honest there are some decent pubs there. One right under the bridge I forget its name sells a few decent ales. Jaipur being one of them. But yes the Tyneside brewerys do knock some decent ales up.

You lucky lucky person. Fab place. Although not a lager drinker most of their beers/ales/lagers are spot on.

May have mentioned this before but I once tried a 32% Nuclear Tactical Penguin ale. The strength and the name should have been enough and probably was to most sensible people to leave well alone. Step right up me. Its a challenge that needs to be attemped. Only went in the pub because of its name, The House of the Trembling Madness (the 1st one).
Anyway I believe I paid a fiver for a third of a pint. It was basically like a sweet molten lava. Its your duty to do it in one go. It's also quite embarrassing at 2:30 pm when you slither down ya seat onto the floor and the landlord is slapping you around the face asking you to get up

When I lived in Cork the big debate was Guinness vs Beamish vs Murphys. I found the latter the best, very mild and creamy, very drinkable, Guinness a middle ground and Beamish had more strong flavours going on.

A lot of "European" beers for sale in the UK are actually local versions brewed here, including Staropramen and Estrella Damm (but not Galicia). There are some places that sell the original imported stuff. Surprisingly Lidl is pretty good for that.

I've just bought a 12 pack at my local Lidl for £13.99 as it's Spanish week - definitely brewed in Galicia

I first went out in 2002 on a business venture that didn’t work out. Eventually got out there for good in 2006. I lived on Polska next to Riegrovy Sady park and their fantastic beer garden for a few years. Cheap as chips and perfect for watching the footie tournaments in the summer.

I brought the family a couple of bottles of Becherovka back, to use as a toast for New Year. The look on some of their faces when they necked it was a joy to behold.
I lived in Naprstkova, quite close to Tescos on Narodni. Got evacuated because of the floods. Later moved to a lovely apartment in Branik. You could see the Staropramen brewery down in the valley from my balcony and beer was even cheaper out there. Still only a 15 minute tram ride to the centre.

Cobra isn't Indian either, it's "Indian style lager". Kingfisher is a real Indian lager.

Love Kingfisher Premium, prefer it to the ultra.

Then you have this fella, Kingfisher Storm which is tremendous but I've only ever seen it in Southern India.
