It's just not the same product, despite the BBC etc. ramming down our protesting mouths that it actually is. If it were viewed as women's football, instead of being needlessly lumped in with the men's game by media outlets, it would ultimately find its level, and supporters that go with it. You don't find women's golf, tennis, cricket, pretty much everything else, shouting that they are just the same as the men, they seem happy in the their own skin playing women's sports, which isn't as quick, skilled, strong, athletic, but can have more grace and finesse. I hope women's football can ultimately find it's feet and demographic, as there are probably some folk out there will find it interesting. And then they can have their own platform. When the 'Lionesses' bomb out of this soon, a few more will drop off though. Grassroots wise, there is girls football everywhere now and it's great to see. It will never, ever, reach the same level and spectacle of men's football though, it's just different ffs.
A couple of months ago Soucek became a dad, there was no mention on the football page at all, however one of the big stories on that football page was 2 lesbians having IVF. of course, no HYS on that story.
I just don't get all the moaning about womens football as it is just football played by women . I can honestly say i have never heard anyone claim it is the equal of mens football in quality . As for the BBC pushing womens football it is partially due to their licence conditions and even more because it is the only football they can afford .
is that something Carney who has a voice that makes you wish you were deaf ? as if so i cannot listen as i find it almost painful .
Oh she reckons they should be paid same as men (despite not getting same tv deal or attendances), should be paid half mens sponsorship deals (despite nobody giving a ****), and should be given same tv time ()
I have no problem with it existing, just dont expect me to spend money or time on it. Its for women, women should be the ones watching it, and lets be honest, women, en masse dont give a **** about sport. They would rather watch The Kardashians and real housewives of Beverley Hills, so men's football has to subsidise it. I wouldnt even give a **** were it not for ******s calling for women to be paid the same as men, i mean ffs the men get paid too much as it is, but atleast mens football generates that money, its not handed to them for nothing.
there is always one . She probably thinks the Yank deal is a precedent but US womens team was a bigger draw than the mens and is still probably at the same level .
But it isnt, maybe in ratings ONLY in the US, but in sponsorships and revenue overall, its nowhere near. The womens world cup generates revenue of £120m, where as the mens world cup has a revenue of like £4bn. The women get paid 20% of the revenue as a prize pool, where as the men only get 7%. So percentage wise, the women get paid MORE than the men.
Partey charged with 5 counts of rape. Mental that Arsenal continued to play him and says it all about the lack of class that football club has.
Tbph mate, I'd rather watch the women's football than some men pinging a golf ball about on tv. Genuinely would. And although I can get into Wimbledon, I quite like the football being on instead, much like I did with the mens U21's achievement. There is of course levels of enjoyment, sometimes watching the England mens team can certainly be a bit of a challenge at times, far worse than the womens football. Trying to watch Morecambe on a cold November night can't really set much more of a challenge, just accept it for what it is womens football. Yet, I didn't watch any of the Club World Cup. Anyway Thomas Partey charged with five counts of rape, mens football eh lol
This is the same football club that took sponsorship from Rwanda. Men's football has gone, it's got no morals anymore.
I said was and that includes sponshorship etc . Womens football in US iirc became popular after the 84 Olympics and was bigger than the mens including revenue etc . Not even sure there was a womens WC back then
