Too young for him really. Do have a great memory of booting Van Nistelrooy up in the air on instruction from people in the crowd though.

True. And there were so many brilliant players who left far too soon; Ekelund, Berkovic, Mane, Bale...

In all honesty, Franny was ****, but he was the ultimate 100% player. Think Shane Long in defence. His destruction of John Fashanu is a belter too (look it up if you haven’t seen it!)

Sent Vinnie Jones flying into the East Stand once as well.

Actually that is a great way to describe him. Shane Long in defence.

The Lallana comments weren't 3 months before he left. It was just over a year: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/22112980

"I've been at the club since I was 12 and I can only see my future lying with Southampton FC," Lallana said.

"I can't wait to work with the new management team and the lads to continue our progress in the Premier League. It was an easy decision for me with the direction the club is going in.

"If someone was to say that I'd end my career playing for Southampton in the Premier League then I'd snap your hand off for it."

I can't be arsed to hash over the past. I'll judge by current and future commitment and performance.

Yeah, I can't really be arsed to think about Lallana for any length of time. I don't hate him, but he's nowhere near a legend or any of that stuff.

You’re forgetting Alf Ramsey, who started his career with us before buggering off to Spurs.

I wonder what happened to him?

Well he did end his career playing for us in the PL so all can be forgiven

My top 5 will be different to most I’d imagine and reflects age etc as I don’t remember MLT really don’t really have much memories of the 90s football wise

I have Beattie, Lallana and Morgan as my top 3 (but I find it too difficult to put them in order). With Rickie and Shane in 4th and 5th.

Pahars just misses out on my top five.

Narrowing down to a list of 5 from over 50 years is extremely difficult but i'd go with...

    MLT
    Steve Williams
    SRL
    Mike Channon
    Kevin Keegan

So many other to consider: Adam, Shilts, Spike Armstrong, Jose Fonte, Beatts, Marian, Mark Dennis, Mark Wright, Claus, Morgan, SKD.

What about Jim Magilton? He doesn't make anyone's list, I suppose it's because of his Ipswich affiliations.

And Bill Ellerington, never left Saints and became a scout, credited with finding Micky Channon
Never saw him play, but met him when he was older

Hey, people were questioning what was said. That's what it was. Like others, I don't really care one way or the other about Lallana. Somehow he never captured my imagination.

Tom Parker (born in Woolston) and Ted Drake left to play for the great Arsenal team of the 1930s and England.

Danny Wallace and Steve Moran are somewhere on that list for me. MLT definitely (although he has had a few moments of being struck off due to his off field madness). SRL also has to be there. Lalllana for me hovers about the top 10, but his twatness keeps him outside. Controversial, but I feel the same for Fonte but less so. Maya & Benali are also there or thereabouts for me. Oh and Long. Maybe I'll do a top 5 by era!
