Brent Council - voted to twin Brent with Nablus on the West Bank <doh>

Well, that really reflects the whole diverse community in the borough.
Fortunately I live in neighbouring Ealing - twinned with Pyongyang <laugh> (only joshing)

Seriously though. Protesting against the situations in Gaza & the West Bank is perfectly legitimate in my view.
But twinning your borough in this way is (again in my view) divisive, provocative and alienating & threatening to Brent's Jewish community.

Q: Don't Brent's Councillors have anything better to do?

A: Yes - charging me £240 for stopping inside a box junction :headbang:

    Bastids! :emoticon-0172-mooni

Bloody hell, that's gone up. The motorist is a cash cow these days, easy to identify and convict with so many cameras around. Try driving round Nottingham with all its bus lanes even bus streets, and cameras if you don't know your way round. And you can't even stop anywhere once you're in it.

To be fair to Brent (if I must) it's partly the fault of the Post Office too :headbang:

I was cut up in a box junction about 6 weeks ago, and stopped in it for all of 20 seconds.
The letter I got the other day claims it's the 3rd one they sent me, and threatened debt recovery etc.
It was the first I had heard of it.
Unfortunately by the time it gets that far there is no discount option. It's "pay or we'll take it away".

Yesterday while driving my old mum home from a hospital appointment I crossed a red light at a junction on Woolwich Common to make way for an ambulance in a hurry.
    I'll probably get 3 points & a fine for that <doh>

These private parking firms are dodgy barsteds. At the car park underneath M&S Sevenoaks they fined my wife £55 by showing a photo of her leaving, but altering the time by one hour. She appealed at first but eventually got fed up and paid. Since then we've found out that several people have had the same thing. That car park is not owned by M&S. The Ringo App seems to have large parts of Kent sownup, and they are dear; wanted £6 for an hour at CamberSands.Shockin, juss shockin.

I see the Metropolitan Police chief now considers himself able to speak for "most people" with his opinion of what is or is not a subject for "legitimate protest".

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c79q1jv8p24o

If I understand correctly, it is within his power to ban this protest.
So why doesn't he simply do so.
And spare us his moral outrage.

Just Stop Oil and Extinction Rebellion have caused far more damage over the past few years.
But they are not banned as terrorists.
    I wonder why.

Such is the scale of news manipulation now, this entire Middle East crisis is beginning to look more and more like a horrific, bloody piece of theatre.
With real people as disposable extras, the victims of missiles and bombs exchanged between Countries in a choreographed dance.

How much of anything we are being told can now be believed?
Iran attacks as US base in Qatar apparently in retaliation for the 'destruction' of their Uranium enriching facilities by US bunker busting bombs. Yet the Iranians told the Qataris and the US in advance exactly how many missiles it used (six) and where they were going to be aimed at.
That was not a genuine retaliatory strike, it was a piece of cynical military showmanship.
Exactly what President Trump has been doing over the past few days, just presented in a different way.
Is there any real threat of 'escalation'? Of events truly snowballing out of control? Of Hell or Armageddon in the Middle East?

The whole ghastly business is beginning to ring as false as Hell, that's for sure.
And the four hundred dead Iranians, and the dozens of Israeli civilians killed by Iranian missiles, are all seemingly 'factored in' as acceptable collateral damage to make the whole scenario seem more apocalyptic and frightening to a Global audience than it really is.

This is truly 1984. The Post-truth era. People all around the World, including those caught in the nightly exchanges of bombs, drones and missiles, are being lied to and lied to and lied to.
Now we're being told by the White House that Iran and Israel have "agreed to a complete and total ceasefire".
Really? Really? How wonderful. How very convenient for all concerned. Take a breather folks, and tune in for next week's episode.

Government agents have intercepted £96m of cocaine at an Essex port. This monumental seizure has struck a blow to the gangs looking to flood our country with narcotics.

It's a shame they can't do the same level of damage to people-smuggling gangs.

Cocaine of course has no right to life, as enshrined by Human Rights conventions that all civilised Nations subscribe to.
Hopefully the drugs will be incinerated.

The cruellest twist of the small boat crossings is that the smugglers know their victims will be rescued, not left to drown by inaction or the use of reckless force.

When Afghanistan was surrendered to the Taliban, it was hoped by some that they would crack down on the Opium growing.
But I haven't heard of a slow-down in the trafficking of that drug from the region.
    After all, why would they.
The Taliban foot-soldiers are religious fanatics, but their leaders are not fools. Opium = :emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash::emoticon-0164-cash:

What the West needs to do is Smash the Global Drugs industry, not just the people smuggling gangs.
I wonder sometimes why President Trump doesn't order the US Air Force to carpet-bomb all the drugs plantations around the World.
Everyone knows where they are located.
    Just check out G@@gle Earth.
