Sorry if you’re on here poster but seeing someone OTR suggesting loaning Patto out this season and if we get relegated bringing him back to be number one again made me laugh out loud
It's the close season blues......endless waiting.....think Howlin' Wolf may have written a song about it!
Patto is an interesting one, if this Bulka transfer goes through... he'd be an excellent backup but I can't imagine he'd be happy sitting on the bench at his age, after being the no.1 for the last 3 and a half years. Might have to be sold, unfortunately.
I'm sure @Scout mentioned sometime that the spine of the team needs quality... If this keeper steps up to his reputation then next stop and commanding physical centre back. Seems harsh on Patto, but we cannot play in this league with sentiment. some of our players who got us there, just might be loaned out or sold... we have to strengthen with quality players who can compete at this level
Patto is incredibly average. I’ve said so for a long time. Long overdue replacement Championship last season: Joint 4th clean sheets with Swansea and Stoke goalkeeper, 7 clean sheets behind the lad in 3rd 11th for save percentage with 68.7% 19th for saves per 90 at 2.2 so he doesn’t have much to do and when he does he’s only saving them 68.7% of the time 16th for goals prevented with -1.8 meaning he’s let in two more goals then he should according to xG (meslier is 17th with -2.7 for context) 6th best goals conceded per 90 at 1 So yeah he’s pretty middle of the road. Here’s another indicator of average, all of his percentiles in the last 365 days against a certain set of leagues
The confidence in which Romano spoke on that video about the deal gives me confidence it's likely nearly done
Yep,discussed on here several times...a strong commanding centre-back alongside Ballard,a CM to replace Jobe and an accomplished striker. They're a minimum. If we're true to form,if Patto wants to go,it'll be made easy for him. He has a lot going for him....that save at Wembley was up there with the very best...he'll have no problem getting a move,if he wants it. He's a great shot stopper, with super-quick reactions, but he doesn't claim the high ball well and his distribution is often suspect. I also feel he's bulked up a little too much.....my opinion only though.
In their respective leagues last season. data isn’t the best all and end all of keepers because defence etc matters
Easily the riskiest position when it comes to transfers, some keepers may be incredible when it comes to stats but just don't fit in at certain clubs. Then subsequently go on to be absolutely world class elsewhere
Yeah I think the data gives a nice indication for if they fit style of play, and then you have to actually watch them and determine if the untenables like: - decision making - positioning - communication - body shape Are improvements on what you have and go from there, i think I trust our goalkeeping coaching and scouting departments to know what they like so hopefully all goes well.
