Next season is when Ruben Amorim have to prove his credibility otherwise his paymasters will not see the funny side of it. Chelsea must come good also. Arsenal are getting tired of being runner-up. Newcastle are bent on improving themselves better. We must not overlook Aston Villa they would like to get top four finish. New Tottenham's manager can have his honeymoon but for how long?. Last I forget, Pep Guardiola is boiling and in the past, saw title winning as a right for Manchester City. Only four teams can be in top four. I must add that Manchester City are facing 115 changes. Who will make top four next season?
1. Liverpool
2. Arsenal
3. Chelsea
4. Manchester City
5. Tottenham
6. Manchester United
7. Newcastle
8. Aston Villa
I don't think top four would be outside these 8 teams in 2025/26.
Perm four from 8.
It's a fuking joke man city have not been dealt with yet by the prem.

I'm giving us a 50% chance to retain it- and that's the most optimistic and committed to anything you'll ever hear from me about anything in a pre-sesason.

Unlike others I don't give managers FM2025 style minimum expectations.

Anything can happen but if you play well and give your all how can we say that its not enough because someone else is just better.

We don't want a klopp 5th place but if we ended up as a klopp 2nd what can you do.

I wouldn't be calling for Slot's head if we got 5th.... it's just too hard to predict pre season. I think we've made positive steps and the other teams' transfers arn't filling me with dread. On paper I think we look good and have a decent chance of retaining the title and willing to call us pre-season favourites.. Of course, we've not seen how this new team gels yet. It may take more than a summer to gel.

I'd consider outside the top three to be disappointing, but not the end of the world.

I can't see Spurs or utd making top 4 and as for Newcastle, it depends if they can keep hold of Isak and also how they manage the league and European football. When teams aren't used to playing two highly competitive competitions, something has to give.

I think Liverpool, Arse and City are the "obvious" picks for most likely to be in top 4.

Chelsea probably the most likely for 4th but wouldn't rule out Villa or Nukes. Spurs and United I expect to both be something close to 7th/8th/9th..

We won't of course...

... I remember back with FM2007 (something like that) - I used to give myself the "Chelsea Challenge" - I'd take a crap team in a lower league- give them £300million and see if I could take them to winning the Premier League. Usually Chester City (Back before the went bankrupt and reformed they were regularly league 2). Bit of a pisstake, because at the time Chelsea had just spent £300million to win the title, so I wanted to prove I could do that in-game with a lower league team (at a time when £15mill was a sizable price for any player... answer, I could, it was actually easy to convert any team into a Premier League winning force with 300million squid).

Funny to think, we could end up spending £300mill this window if we get another couple in. (granted we'll be making money back from sales)- and £300m is STILL a lot of money but not the "God-Mode" amount of money it was a few decades ago.

Mental when you look at what Mourinho spent at Chelsea in this early years it was obscene at the time but it was £20-30m for all of drogba essien duff shevchenko carvahlo etc. the type of money that you spend now on any half decent championship player.

Inflationary football.

I can recall lazio being accused of it with a 100mil squad. Crespo, veron, Gascoigne, nedved, mancini under eriksen

Mourinho's £300mill spend would be equivalent today, to what, with today's fees? £1.5bn? £2bn?

He was at chelsea 2.5 years?

Let's say ambramovich had him tapped up and they agreed the likes of probably etc.

Crespo
Mutu
Duff
Veron
Makelele

All 20 mil in 2003

Drogba
Carvalho

Both over 30mil or so in 2004

Ferrero 20
Robben 18
Cech 10

2005 then
Essien 35odd
Swp

You'd equate some of those up to 100mil now I guess. 20mil to 40 to 50 mil anyway.

I would guess its not as bad as today's cheslea idiots but it must be the equivalent or.nesrly a billion?
