We'll spend 20+ at least twice is what I probably should've said.

Those will be probably be from abroad, unless something in the prem comes up which we can't turn down.

the only reason I’m not that confident that we will, is like Cam says, all our links are for good but cheaper players. Now they might just be because that’s what’s leaked. But you’d expect more expensive deals to be more likely to leak, not less likely. So it stands to (some) reason that we are focusing on better value players. At least currently.

i personally think cirkin will still be a a sunderland player at the end of the window

could still do with another LB on Top of him and i think the club will be looking,

Also think it will be a little bit silent until this potential new Dof is in and all sorted . personally think though depending on how that plans out, can see speakman leaving in the next year

completely agree, this does feel unfortunately possible

There could be many scenarios of course, he could be glad of help.

Yeah this would make sense, proper box to box backup option to replace Browne in the squad and maintain our level more if any of the 3 get injured.

Plays on the left of a 3 and just ****s people up, monster.

The lad is only 21! is that Benjani years?
Big step up from where he's been playing mind but looks as if he's got a lot going for him.

Baradji might be my favourite link so far to be honest, just wish the link was coming from somewhere more reliable.

Elite physical profile which is what we are desperate for now. These are the clever types of deals that smart clubs do. He's an infinitely better signing than someone like Skipp for £20m or Downes for £15m.
Knowing absolutely nowt about him, we need to be padding out the squad with this ‘type’ of deal. It’s like the Merlin link that we’ve just been talking about. If we spend £20m on a left back when we already have cirkin at the club we want our heads read. Different matter if Dennis is off, but we have to get the vast majority of our spend onto the pitch. That’s how we’ll be successful. A handful of deals in the £2-5m range for squad depth is exactly what we need to surround our big swings with.

That’ll be another very good player in Saudi :emoticon-0149-no:

Yeah he's physically a great player to have around, needs a bit of nurturing but good value - 24 though but late bloomer.

Aye, it isnt one for me. Having said that I trust the scouts and recruitment team. He could be a gem, but I have reservations that at the age he has suddenly blossomed whilst getting relegated from a poor league. I get the argument about having physical attributes, but lots of players have those, it is how you use them against Elite footballers that count.
While this sort of signing will always be considered a bit of a shot to nothing, I will always remember the fact that Didier Drogba was a jobbing Ligue 2 striker with no particular record to his name until near to his 24th birthday. Sometimes players with incredible physical gifts take a while to get going. And we will always need to h e our eyes out for an undervalued bargain. These sort of players from nowhere really can take off rapidly - particularly when they’ve been playing off the beaten track. It’s why I still have half an eye on Richard Kone as our third striker. The teams that take chances on these types of players can be left with a winning lottery ticket.
