I've also seen a few people suggesting Dan Gosling should never pull a Newcastle shirt on again, despite looking pretty decent up to setting up the third goal and a red card. Some people are idiots, I just learn to filter it out.

I don't know about never playing for Newcastle again, but he deserves a massive bollocking from Pardew for getting himself sent off. The second challenge was completely unnecessary and you expect better from a player who ought to be trying to fight for a first team place.

Without question, but if we got rid of every player who got a silly red card we'd have a very small squad. Gosling is a young promising player and has a lot of potential, he's been nowhere near as **** as some here are claiming.

I'd consider appealling the red card, worst that happens is a 4th game out when Tiote or Guthrie should be back, whereas we'd be better off with him back for Swansea.

Benny has clearly done something in private that Pardew was unhappy with.
Possibly a bust-up with Best.

I cannot see any other reason why neither of them went on the pitch today.

Or more likely Shola was our best player against Chelsea so he earned the start today and Ba has been on form all season. Whereas Best lost his place when he got injured as Shola has took his chance and Ben Arfa was dreadful against Chelsea so Shola took his place. Apart from the odd off moment Shola had an all round decent game yesterday as well so unless we get any more injuries I'll be surprised if Shola an Ba don't start up front together against Swansea. After all Pardew has said time and time again that he picks the team on form so Shola and Ba deserve their place in the starting 11.

I didnt see the game so I cant comment on Sholas performance but I will say this - he earned his start yesterday after his performance against Chelsea. Furthermore we scored two goals away from home - most days that will get you at least a draw. Shola played his part in those two goals (one assist) and nearly set-up another. It wasnt our frontline that was the reason we lost yesterday....

This, it seems Shola is a popular hate figure on these boards. Personally I will get behind every player who pulls on the black and white shirt and plays for Newcastle. Yes players like Perch aren't good enough but as long as they give 100% I will get behind them. So far this season every player (Obertan aside) has given 100% in every game they have played and I respect them for that and I support them when they play because of that. With Shola he is actually a good player as well just these fickle fans don't give him half a chance. All players make mistakes and we've just got accept that mistakes will happen and continue supporting our player throughout it.

FFS, if you think Perch is worthy of the shirt, we differ big style. He's at a Premiership Club by default. And he knows it.

I don't understand why even when Shola has a good game people jump on his back, his touch, hold up play and link up with Ba yesterday was brilliant, he even got an assist and would of had another one if Ba managed to squeeze a volley in from a few yards.
