Today is very much “after the Lord Mayor’s show” with a disappointing card (certainly in terms of numbers) at Pontefract.

The feature race, the Listed Pontefract Castle Fillies’ Stakes, has attracted seven and looks like an excellent opportunity for Santorini Star to bring up a 2025 hat-trick after winning a handicap at Goodwood a month ago with something to spare and three of today’s rivals behind. There are a couple in here with actual form at this level so the Haggas filly makes little betting appeal as a short-priced favourite.

Yes I thought she'd win but fortunately forgot to have a bet.
The winner was Allonsy, who is yet another Rausing staying filly from her A family. The dam is Alyssa, who improved considerably as a 4yo (as did relative Alpinista) to win the Park Hill. Will Allonsy do the same?
