Hi folks, next Saturday would have been my younger bro's 60th birthday. To mark the occasion 4 of us are doing the cross Wales challenge, which is 77.25km walking with an arduous 2154 mtrs of ascent (48 miles - 7066ft, in old money) We were unable to join the 46 mile official route as it is limited numbers on the first section, much of it across private land. So we've planned our own extended route for the Friday and will join the official route for the last 48km early on Saturday morning.
We are once again trying to raise as much money as we can for Brain Tumour Research. A day's research costs £2740, so we have rather ambitiously set that as our target.
If anyone is able to kindly donate, it would be very much appreciated.

If any mods or members are able to share this on their clubs board that too would be very much appreciated.

Brain tumours are indiscriminate; they can affect anyone at any age. What’s more, they kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer... yet historically just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.

What is the route? Right across the middle?

A lot of wilderness there. The Elan Valley area is lovely.

Stopped for a McDonald's in Newtown the other week on way back from Manc, nice little town.

Absolute **** to get to and back from though.

One of the lads i walk with lived in Newtown for 30 yrs, moved out into the wilderness about 12 months ago. Good place to bring kids up, but nothing there for them when they get older, hence 3of the 4 are living in England now.

Yeah, it's very agricultural and not a lot else.

Wales Cricket have the finals day up there, we were up there year before last, and will be this July.

Bloody freezing, despite it being July!

Of the few times it's nice weather there, one as to be next weekend, 25° and mostly clear skies. Not ideal for walking, too damn hot. No shade up on those hills <wah>
