Five steps towards a police state as indentified by Robert Reich....

(1) declaring an emergency on the basis of a so-called “rebellion”, “insurrection”, or “invasion”;

(2) using that “emergency” to justify bringing in federal agents with a monopoly on the use of force (Ice, the FBI, DEA, and the national guard) against civilians inside the country;

(3) allowing those militarized agents to make dragnet abductions and warrantless arrests, and detain people without due process;

(4) creating additional prison space and detention camps for those detained, and

(5) eventually, as the situation escalates, declaring martial law.

Once martial law is declared he could dispense with elections.

There are 'No Kings' anti-Trump demonstrations planned across the US on June 14th, the same day that Trump is holding a military parade to celebrate his birthday.

No Kings

Hopefully not, but could turn nasty.
bound to be some more peaceful protesting

Rioting used to be reserved for special occasions. Now we’ve got people attacking migrants, lobbing petrol bombs at police and setting cars alight in Ballymena for some reason.

Alleged crimes by a Romanian family this time. Looks pretty horrific what’s happened there from the brief snippet I watched this morning. Usual story probably of people pretending to care as an excuse to kick off.

Perfectly understandable behaviour, according to some.

After all, "Any normal and fair-minded person would have a perfect right to be concerned if a group of Romanian people suddenly moved in next door", to quote Nigel Farage.

They also fire-bombed the house of Philipino factory-worker (who was on night shift) with his wife and children inside. Just because they're foreign.

People were rightly given serious sentences for their parts in the anti-asylum seeker riots. Doesn’t seem to have been much of a deterrent.

Israels having a go at the ayatollah's now

Major escalation of hostilities in the region. They've killed some pretty top level military brass as well as a load of nuclear scientists. Iran was getting veey close to developing weapons grade uranium and having some nukes built, so this attack will be setting that back for several years maybe. Israel seem to be willing to fight on multiple fronts

Starmer jumps on the "far-right bandwagon" by calling a full national enquiry into grooming gangs, yet another U-turn by the man who rubbished those demanding it...

On the contrary it may prove to Iran that their conventional defences are incapable of fending off Israeli attacks and thus redouble their attempts to get nuclear weapons as quickly as possible, as being their only deterrant.

In the region, positions are entrenched no matter how strong or weak they may or may not be militarily

That will never change

Some absolute **** on Newsnight from the 'Labour Friends of Israel', desperately trying to drag the UK into yet another Middle-East war.

**** Israel and **** Netanyahu's desperation for neverending conflict. If Starmer colludes in a US attack on Iran, he's as big a **** as Blair.

No invitation to Shabbat dinner for you tonight.
