Hang on, are you saying you're not literally ****ting the bed?

In that case you must be a deluded happy clapper. THERE IS NO IN BETWEEN.

Not arsed about Wilson as he will rarely play. He's there as an emergency given that we need a squad for the Champions League/ PL.

Ruddy makes sense - Experienced keeper for an emergency Gillespie trains with and coaches with the U21's so that is why we are keeping him also. Two of Pope, Dubravka or Vlachodimos will not be here next season.

This - as long as they understand their place within the squad - Ruddy - emergency option if all else fails and Wilson must recognize he's probably going to play the early rounds of the domestic cups and a few sub app's here and there then I've no issue with either extending their stay. The interview he did somewhere the other day had the feel of a lion who knows they aren't the alpha of the pack anymore but happy to not be left alone in the wilderness.

People pissing the bed over Wilson. It's a pay per play contract. He'll be third/ fourth choice behind Isak, new striker and Osula.
I said yesterday that we won't sign anyone until after 1st July and stick by it. Kelly sale completes 30th June so we shift £150k per week wages and receive £20 million. Three year loss period resets meaning we can spend big and spend the next three years building commercial income and aim for top 4 every season.

The signings will come and people will be left with major egg on their faces.
This is true. Our year end is 30 June and I believe that is when this cycle of FFP ends. So we won’t be registering any new expensive players I would imagine until 1 July 25.

Isn't it more a question of whether we need them or not. If they are never going to play games, what is the point of having them on the books? I would rather see an Academy goalkeeper used in the case of our real first team goalkeepers being injured. It will help them bridge that transition between Academy and First Team.

With Wilson I would rather see Osula given more game time. Its the only way he will improve and Wilson doesn't seem to add anything when he comes on. Suspect Wilson will move on to Leeds anyway.

Ruddy said when he joined he was essentially a player coach I'd imagine Gillespie is the same, there in an emergency.

Remember when we had all 3 keepers injured a few seasons ago and we had to start a youngun (Woodman?). They don't want that again.

Vlach and Pope will probably go with Trafford coming in

Depends - I haven't heard anything about the youth keepers coming through none pushing to be a breakthrough star - otherwise we wouldn't be chasing for a new keeper imho. Wilson is older, slower but still wiser than Osula, personally think Eddie will know when and where to use them, might be Wilson coming on for Osula against Wimbledon types next season while Isak has a break.

But "moving quickly" doesn't have to mean "announcing quickly". Could be lots going on behind the scenes in terms of negotiations / deals.

Yer right mind, the behind the scenes speed at which Newcastle are moving to complete and announce the new contracts for Ruddy, Gillespie and Wilson is electrifying. :emoticon-0127-lipss
Sir Eddie seems to be a bit of a "hoarder" as far as keeping old, past it players goes.

The PL financial year end is 30th June 2025. That is the date when clubs have to submit accounts by to prove that they have complied with PSR. NUFC three year £105 million loss threshold comes to an end on that date. Registration of players on or before that date can be tricky.

NUFC are waiting for July 1st - a new FFP period to announce significant deals. That does not mean they aren't acting. We missed on Mbeumo because of wages. Nothing more. Cunha we were never interested in.

We do not need to sell to buy. Deals are going to happen and we are going to be laughing come August.

Great news on Wilson because we need depth and he's a good player at the end of the day. I would imagine it's very saddening for a player who served the club so well to see the hate over a new contract.

Fans talk about loyalty from players, but the ones crying Today have none for the players in return.... They'll hide behind the club being where their loyalty is, but that's the same for the players and they seem to expect players to pander to them, so.

We'll use him if and when required and despite popular belief, I think he was looking good the last few games this season.

Nah, he's right. A pay as you play contract is a no lose situation for us, as long as we still sign a decent first choice backup for Isak. Wilson will likely just be some low cost extra depth to cover unforeseen injury and suspension issues, whilst keeping a good character in the dressing room.

There is no way Wilson is signing a pay as you play deal. Not a chance.
