Newcastle United have made Burnley and England goalkeeper James Trafford, 22, their top target this summer. (Times - subscription required), external

Liverpool are not looking to sell Colombia winger Luis Diaz, 28, and have received no offers, despite reported interest from Barcelona and Saudi side Al-Nassr. (Times - subscription required), external

But should Diaz leave, Newcastle's £80m-rated England winger Anthony Gordon, 24, is being seriously considered by Liverpool as a replacement. (Teamtalk)

£80m rated hmmm put another 40 on that and we might be interested!

Newcastle United will sign promising Spanish winger Antonio Cordero on 1st July following the expiry of his contract with Spanish side Málaga.

The transfer is subject to completion of the registration process with the Premier League and the Football Association, as well as obtaining a UK visa.

The 18-year-old - known as Antoñito - has made 60 senior appearances in all competitions for Sergio Pellicer's Málaga, registering seven goals and nine assists.

The Spain Under-19 international is expected to head out on loan this summer after completing his move to St. James' Park.

Antonio said: "It's truly an honour to be here, truly a pleasure. I am a person who likes to aspire high. Why not come to one of the best places in the world to do it.
"It's a big step, and that's one of the reasons I'm here. I'm happy to do it and have a great desire to get going already."

Newcastle United sporting director, Paul Mitchell, said: "Antonio is an exciting talent. We're delighted to bring him to Newcastle United amidst interest in Spain and across Europe.
"He has lots of potential, and the next phase of his development will be for the club to select a loan move that will challenge him and build on his experiences."

Born in Jerez de la Frontera in Andalusia, Antonio had youth spells with clubs including Cádiz, Sevilla, Real Betis and Malaga before signing his first professional deal with the latter in 2022.
He scored his first senior goal for Málaga in dramatic circumstances in June 2024, netting a last-minute equaliser in a play-off final second leg against Gimnàstic to seal promotion to the Segunda División.

Reactions: Obi Wan
Yeah, but he's played 60 senior games in Spain already, so hopefully 'development' won't be too long. Have some faith.

He’s another for the future, big clubs sign kids like this in their droves every year. My concern is we have photoshoots and PR for him as if he’s a major signing! I’ve seen this too much with Newcastle, I think it makes us look small. If he’d signed for Barca, like another dozen kids will this summer, would there have been a press release about it?! Nope.

I think he is a step up from us bringing in James Taylor from Hemel into the U21's

"Splurging" on someone who wont see the first team for at least a year (if ever). Marvellous <cheers>
Wonder if they'll do the same with the Georgian "wonderkid" Vakhtang Salia when he arrives in August

Sunderland signed someone, Forest have picked up three Brazilian players. So much for speed being of the essence this summer!

Even in the summers we signed players we took ages so i have faith players will come in and it'll all look different come the end of the second transfer window

If the reports are to be believed, we're 25% done already with this kid signing (2 first team, 2 development).
