They seemed to bring a kind of 'family' feel good factor to the club...Amanda going round giving hugs to the players...Mehrdad always came across quite genuine..felt like they had a real connection with the club to me and it wasnt just about money...i like the idea of them back at the club in some capacity if its possible one day.
Craig no Hope reported a few weeks ago that we are looking for a Technical Director which would negate the need for a DoF. No idea what the difference in roles are though.
Oh well, it doesn't really matter and perhaps the initial power struggle rumours are unfounded? Maybe the club's simply moving on to another level.
I think they got Mitchell in because they weren't convinced over Howe. Now that he's shown them what he can do then he's won. Paul Mitchell wanted to bring in his own manager.
Well I'm not arsed about staff tbh... Managers either in truth... I mean, I feel like managers are overstated these days. They carry on like managers are controlling the universe.
Again, isn’t the timing of all this incredibly bad? “Pondering” a restructure when the first window opens in less than a week?! And there were “a couple of candidates” for CEO about 9 months ago.
The i are also stating that this situation will not be allowed to interrupt our transfer business. They say that the groundwork has been done and that we're ready to move on four signings. They even name five players that we're the most interested in: Mbeumo, Delap, João Pedro, Semenyo and Zabarnyi (this is the point at which I get most dubious - why would the club let anyone external know our top targets?).
Didn’t we do this last year, dicking about for Guehi before failing? Our transfer business has been myopic of late and i am worried - because Howe seems to be “my way or highway” - that we’ll have no plan b once again, and the odds on all of those players joining are longer for us than other clubs. It again screams of a very limited scouting team when every target comes with the PL tax and the one bargain - Delap - will have better options than wondering whether the manager will prefer Callum Wilson. Id bet of every major team we will be the only ones signing nobody by the time the first window shuts. That the I list five players and none of them is a goalkeeper is terrifying!!
However, Howe has one a cup and got us in to the champions League. Maybe his highway is the right way. But then a part of me remembers Jordan Ibe
I think it’s not ideal for leadership to assume Howe is now untouchable. He was king Midas at Bournemouth, until he wasn’t. Very few managers ever hit that level. Perhaps this summer will be fine and we’ll keep progressing.
