Well actually he didn't . And never would have. If you recall, after the fiasco of three managers within a year all being got rid of when they wouldn't do his bidding, him wanting to ban fans because they had the temerity to say he didn't know what he was doing and protesting outside LR,. His insistence on getting his managers to play Pellicori (because he had so much talent, obvious only to Flav. I could go on. Eventually Mittal grew a pair, took over and recruited Warnock who I'm sure only came once he knew that Flav had been muzzled. It was Warnock who got us up not Flav. It's a classic 'be careful what you wish for'. Most wanted Briatore gone, but he did get us to the PL as per his stated plan.
Sadly Mittal got outmanoeuvred in the Board Room so Flav and Bernie returned in time to prevent Warnock having any money to spend the next season. It was then Fernandes who bought into the dream and we vastly over-spent picking up the dregs in the last couple of days of the transfer window.
I am as certain as anyone can be that if Flav had still been there we would have gone down not up. Don't think that was ever in the 4 year plan. We got to the PL in spite of him not because of him
