I’m not glorying in anything. Netanyahu has never been popular but that’s Israeli politics and its voting system for you. Obviously Israeli society on the whole wants a swift end to this one way or another as any population at war would with the various impacts it has. So many questions. I’m a big supporter of Israel defending its right to exist from various terror groups intent on wiping Jews off the Earth. Part of that requires taking out Hamas infrastructure that they’ve built knowing the only way to destroy it is going to have a death toll. When aid has flowed into Gaza, with ample volume if distributed correctly, the UN and other agencies have been unwilling or unable to stop Hamas getting to it and funding their continued efforts. Plans have been offered to stop this from happening and they’ve been rejected by these agencies. The same organisations who pump out nonsense headlines like ‘14000 babies are going to die in 48 hours’ and people like you lap up without any sort of evaluation. You’ll have another whinge and perhaps accuse me of something like genocide denial if I’m really lucky and that’s fine. Let it out. As for Netanyahu v Golan, I don’t know much about the bloke beyond what’s in this article. There’s likely to be an election soon and as complicated as Israeli politics is he’s clearly got a good shot so I’d be cranking up the pressure too. He probably is more my type of politics than Netanyahu. Give me Benny in a war though. Give me a Churchill over a Chamberlain.
The point is, there won't be an election so long as the 'war' continues. Netanyahu broke the last cease-fire because he doesn't want the remaining hostages to be released - that's never been the real objective. It would remove the last, tenuous, justification for the continued war crimes and cleansing of Palestinians in Gaza, and Netanyahu would wind up in jail. October 7th, as horrendous as it was, was a blessing for Netanyahu and Smotric.

Suggesting that Netanyahu will allow elections to happen in October 2026 is like suggesting that Trump will leave quietly in 2028. You're right, though, inasmuch as I've never been to Israel. Have you?
