I wonder how much money we’ve spent on buy-out clauses and paying off sacked head coaches.

It’s likely we could be paying three head coaches’ salaries soon and potentially spending a few million on a buy-out clause.

He would be my first choice, but why would he leave Millwall?

If I took one thing from Brucie’s talk last night, it’s the value of a manager who has an extensive network in the British/Irish game and the phone numbers of a lot of useful people. I think that, plus the excellent scouts and his reputation, were the main reasons we had such a good squad in his time with us.

Plus he’s obviously learned a lot of dos and donts on man management from his time as a player. Would love to know why Graham Taylor took against him. And he could probably write a book full of Fergie anecdotes, would love to hear them.

I am gonna meet a friend this evening who worked for AcunMedya and he teases me like he knows who Acun is talking for manager position, exchange for a beer I can get info and it is someone never mentioned in news - he claims, not British, not Turkish. Usually I wouldn't bother but very recently he was kind of assistant of someone on top of hierarchy, Survivor producer. This could be a huge blunder and probably nothing will come out, but let's see this evening, may be I can be the first to name that guy.

i dont think theres any potential at millwall, they have a very limited budget (our financials are ****ed probably) but, he may feel there's more chance either financially/for his job prospects is he comes here

I’ve seen people on Facebook, X and on here saying they want this guy and that guy and I just think ‘why the **** would they abandon a good gig elsewhere to come to this ****show?’.

Alex Neil is at a sensibly-run club and did an incredible job this season. He’d be insane to come here.

disagree, you're thinking it from a passionate city fan pov

he would benefit massively financially, and millwalls a great solid championship team
but theyre never going up, theres not really any steps at millwall, he might feel theres a better career prospects here with the squad and transfers

other than he will never get sacked there unless they are at risk of relegation

I was at a similar talk-in thing at Wallsend Boy's Club not long after Bruce became manager at Sunderland. Coaches were absolutely buzzing with possibility of discussing latest tactical theories with a genuine PL coach, not least as they were just being exposed to the newest theories and terminologies (although I do agree much of it is sexy names for existing concepts) and within 5 minutes they were reduced to asking favourite game, hardest opponent, etc. Not a clue on tactics, couldn't even understand the questions. A managerial career build on connections and man management alone. However I can confirm BW was stated as hardest opponent.

Lol, I would say its you looking at it from a passionate city fan perspective and we love you for it. But I would have thought Millwall look a lot more attractive than us at the minute (gruesome though they are).

Think you’re underestimating just how much some coaches value being in a stable environment. Neil has done a great job at Millwall with an average but solid squad of players. He might want to build a legacy similar to Robins at Coventry, not float from job to job every 6-12 months.

Hull isn’t a particularly attractive proposition as a City to live in for players or coaches. A lot of players and coaches might overlook that if they believe in the long-term project at the football club but City don’t have that either. Watford at least is close to London if coaches fancy a ride on the merry-go-round.

The location isn’t appealing and the club is a circus. The only people we will attract are mercenaries looking for a quick and easy payout.

no our owner is a basket case

but alex neil would benefit massively financially, and on a squad basis, he may see a better chance of playoffs than with millwall

Lunchtime Look North were naming Tom Cleverley as favourite for the job; if true, he must have a right masochistic streak!

Alex Neil would be a great piece of business,he's a very decent coach.

That said,he's no mug(local lad from my area and I know people who know him and grew up with him) and he seems settled where he is.I can't see him flinging away what he's already got, to come and work for someone who has earned the reputation as an erratic owner willing to fling anyone under a bus to save face.

Like the idea but doubt it...

Why would Alex Neil even consider this circus after recently being turned down for the job?

Have a word with yourself.. Slagging the owner off is one thing. Slagging the city off is another. And no matter what your opinion is, Hull City AFC is still a very attractive management proposition.

Quoting myself, I got the name on phone and so far I never heard him linked to Hull. Very very surprised, believe it or not it looks very very very plausible, I will definitely buy the beer for the lad, I am almost certain Acun has called him. He told me not to share but I will provide hints for trivia, this way I will keep my promise also:

He played as footballer in all countries that Acun is managing a football club now.
He won trophies as manager, actually 3 trophies in last 3 years.
He is not a high profile name as manager and makes it really likely for Championship switch.
