Yeh I think this is true. I think we'll be much busier if we lost the final because we'll likely need to replace many too
I think we will sign more than that in total but only around 4-5 at most will be who can slot straight in to the XI, the others will be bench and depth
Not exactly to do with this conversation but I think the strategy should be physicality. You can develop your technical level over a few years but trying to go toe to toe with even the likes of Wolves by signing technically good but fairly weak players is just asking for relegation.
To immediately improve the starting XI if I could only choose 5 positions: RW LB CB AM (Le Fee?) Probably LW because we only have Mundle, would need to sign one regardless so might as well improve.
Yeah I think we'd play a lot more like we have over this playoff campaign, makes Ballard more useful than Mepham which I didn't really consider a few weeks ago. Would want a CB who's great on the ball but also wins plenty of their duels to play LCB.
Yeah sure, I'm still not totally sure he goes if we go up but if course in the event he did and ELF was included then either CM/DM would be a priority
Yes, League One is also, unless we're talking about France. I never said second tier, I said Danish 2nd Division.
Think Agbadou cost Wolves around £15m in January, think that would be the type of signing I would go for. Physical beast who is pretty good on the ball
Fair enough, the translation meant it was always up for debate which way you were talking about it and especially in the context of comparing to a player who plays in Danmarksturneringens 1. my initial assumption was that you'd made a mistake there.
Did really want Nathan Zeze as he's available for just under €20m but Bournemouth are all over that ****.
He could be going for that now but French clubs are poor until they sort their TV deal out, when comparing the profiles on a radial graph he's almost an exact map of Van Dijk and 19.
Defo some good players to be found in the Nordic countries I’d just worry that it’s a gamble especially in the PL. Brighton have signed a few and have the luxury of loaning them straight out whereas if we spent upwards of £10m we’d probably be expecting them to go straight into the team. Haralldson at Lille having a good season as is Gustav Isaksen at Lazio, both of those would have been decent signings for a newly promoted team. I think the lad Bissek at Inter also came from a danish team recently. There’s not many I’d take from the championship if we went up because most of the leagues top performers are experienced championship players who aren’t really going to get any better (Cov midfield good example of that) and those who’ve played in the PL haven’t really proven they’re solid at that level. Cullen, Brownhill, Hamer mentioned above, nearly 28 and he’s a top championship/poor premier league player who’s arguably at his best already. Not really worth it now for me. One argument for our players is that they’re all young and still improving, you have to wonder how many championship players are going to be much of an upgrade on what we have. Tom Fellows would be a good signing and I’d probably take Van Ewijk from Coventry if we lost Hume but other than that I can’t think of anyone. Sargent is decent but not sure how much of an upgrade, if one at all on what we have. Better players out there abroad for what we’d be expecting to pay.
Yeah Isak Johannesson at Nurnberg will be the next Icelandic to go to a top 5 league, so versatile and great in every position he plays.
