Interestingly too the ‘bad form’ highlights 8 points from 8 games. It’s not brilliant form but it’s not abysmal. That would equal 46 points over the course of the season. Relegation form probably but not far off safety. What did we expect from this side? It would have looked ok if Luton, Derby and Plymouth hadn’t have gone on season best runs. Luckily the form pre the international break was good enough to keep us up - why aren’t we focusing on that?
Not the man to get a play off chase next year it says in Bazs article , I at least like that’s the aim . Even if the methods are not great , let’s have a bit of ambition , he’s nuts but so is that Forest bloke and their off to Europe next year ..
It all begs the question of if he’s sacked then what was the expectation again? Shoot me for saying it I don’t really care but it was the same with Rosenior. One second it was due to style of play the next Acun subtly admits that only promotion would’ve saved him and even then he was probably on a short leash. When Selles was appointed Acun mentioned that he wasn’t looking at relegation. I appreciate that was more of a comment for the long term but what was the reasonable expectation this season? I get that we had a bad run in and some abject performances but we can’t keep giving the same trust to Acun in the hope “he learns from his mistakes” and not say the same for any manager that comes in.
Possibly similar reason to Rosie, it states in the article the form where we scored 1 goal from open play in about 8 games raised a concern . ? Not saying it’s right or wrong , but Attacking football and scoring goals and winning more games usually go in hand in hand , so his expectations probably still same
Finishing 6th now is not the same as it used to be The gap in quality between the teams who finish 3rd is just ridiculous You genuinely need a miracle to go up as a non parachute team
You don’t need a miracle you just need to be well ran and consistent. Despite being 2-1 down I’d still fancy Coventry to do it and at the moment they’re the model to follow
I don’t even think Lampard would’ve turned us around. The squad he inherited at Cov is very good and was underperforming. Ours was probably true to form when Selles came in
I agree but I also think we would have finished a lot higher if we never had the drastic injuries we had which meant Selles was without 4 or 5 main players. The players we lost could easily have turned the minus goal difference to plus.
All the more reason to stick. The team under Tim was one that was creating chances but couldn’t finish and that was with the players not injured.
Have to admire the audacity of Acun to completely gut the squad of any goals, and shifting the blame onto a manager who managed to keep us up despite our 'goal threat' being a half crocked pensioner and Mason Burstow
Soaking up the plaudits when it goes well and shifting blame when it goes wrong is what he does best. Loathsome individual.
