Was the red card the correct decision?. Even from my lofty position in the upper Lansdown it was an obvious penalty. My question is, was the red card the correct decision. Manning was obviously very upset about it, that’s for sure, was he justified.

I don’t know enough about the rules. Isn’t there a double jeopardy rule?, or am I confused?, shouldn’t it be a yellow as a penalty was given. Maybe some of you who are more knowledgeable than me can explain. Thoughts ….

If a player commits a foul which denies an opponent an obvious goal-scoring opportunity in the box, and its an attempt to play the ball, its a penalty and a yellow card. This did not happen. Pulling a player back in the box, and then playing the ball wasn't an attempt to play the ball. Deny a clear goal scoring opportunity in the box without a attempt to play the ball is a penalty and a red.

    Agree. Sadly.
Easier decision for the referee to make than the one v Sunderland a couple of weeks ago.

More pissed off he let an aging Kieffer Moore do him on the turn and pace.

Starting to wonder if he don’t want to finish games against them. Stupid foul in first home game against them and then last night.

Agreed, didn’t think Max was great either, thought he should have closed him down once it was obvious Moore had beaten Dickie, haven’t watched it back, just what I felt from last night.

Could be wrong but wasn’t it just before he fell into the goal and you see he was struggling a bit.

    Definite red card an pen.
Overachieved doesn't come close to our league position this year.
They gave their all, players and staff but we came up short, we can't ask for more. No shame in that all.

It was always going to be a tough ask against them
I’d rather go out now than lose another final

I think we are very fortunate to be in the playoffs, there were about 10 teams all had a chance from the 5th placed down over the last 10 match's or so ........ NONE actually showed consistency and a lot of "being in " the position they were in after losing/ dropping points was due to the failures of the other 9!!!! [ plus a levelling out of having to play each other! ]

it will on the day for the finalist to succeed Should it be SHEFF/ SUNDERLAND ... then it will be whoever has recovered their best form from the last 10 match's or so ....or maybe a lucky strike!

It’s just really disappointing that the incident happened. Really gutted.

I firmly agree that the referee was spot on with his call to give a penalty and send off Dickie, absolutely correct. Some of the ref's other calls must also be in dispute and I hate to say that when I saw he was our referee my confidence fell dramatically. On a positive note I can't see any of his questionable calls leading in any way to our defeat as yet again we shot ourselves in the foot to destroy the game as a spectacle. Before we knew who we were possibly playing I didn't think we could hold a candle to the other three candidates in the race and so I am not so disappointed but rather upset that we did a Bristol City move by not showing up for the final dance. Should we be able to overcome this huge deficit then I might find time to post a positive. :emoticon-0136-giggl:emoticon-0105-wink:

Good to see wide agreement. Dickie pulling on the field is a red card. Its not the place for it.
