    Yet the BBC say this...

The UK's Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds said the deal would make it easier for people with certain skills to work in the UK temporarily.
"It opens up a small number of visas from an existing route for chefs and musicians and yoga teachers, very, very small, about 1,800."

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c99p2mlyep5o

It amuses me the way Jonathan Reynolds is clearly trying to play down the number (very, very, small) which suggests there is something to hide.

I think it's good to do a deal with a population the size of India, but Keir has been under pressure the last few days, and it makes me wonder if this has been pushed through as a distractor and I'm seeing holes in it, the question is am I happy to accept those holes for the trade off...well I got no choice but you get what I mean.

Conclave starts later today, no idea who are the favourite candidates but give it to an Italian cardinal, hopefully a young one, not some guy in his late 60's +

Quick google says that Giorgio Marengo is one of the youngest at 51, give it to him.

Libby told me a guy called Peter Turkson is going to be the new pope. Think he’s an African guy.

Don’t care if I’m honest. Just like to think he’s got a clean mind and a clean past…

Can a woman be the pope or is there a female version? Quite sexist in the 21st century if there’s not.

    I googled the question:

    AI Overview

No, a woman cannot be the Pope in the Catholic Church. The papacy is traditionally reserved for men due to the Church's teachings on priestly ordination and the historical tradition of only men being chosen as apostles by Jesus.

    Here's a more detailed explanation:
    • Ordination:
In the Catholic Church, only men can be ordained as priests, and ordination is a prerequisite for becoming a bishop, which is a requirement for being a candidate for the papacy.
    • Tradition:
The Church's tradition of male-only ordination is based on the belief that Jesus only chose male apostles and that this tradition has been maintained throughout history.
    • Pope John Paul II's Statement:
In 1994, Pope John Paul II formally stated that the door is closed to women's ordination and that the Church's teaching on the matter remains unchanged.
    • Pope Francis's Confirmation:
Pope Francis has reiterated this position, affirming the Church's continued adherence to the tradition of male-only ordination.
    • Legend of Pope Joan:
There is a legend about a female pope named Pope Joan, who allegedly ruled for a few years in the 9th century, but this story is widely considered a myth.

Quite sexist that. They need to change it and realise they aren’t living back in the day when men were picked for everything. Nothing wrong with modernising religion, surely.

I think this is one of the problems also with having older Popes, it was Pope John Paul II that denied women access in 1994, he was 58 years old at the time. I think it would help if it was governed by younger minds and ones that include women, this would hopefully also aid in repairing the damage caused by past abuse cases and make the church appear more welcoming.

I'm sure someone would give me a religious reason why it can't be so, but I think if it was done for the right reasons it would help in a modern world to create a better image of the church. Afterall whether it be Catholic or CoE, something needs to be done to stop what I see as the erosion of Christianity. Everytime I look at the church I just see old people, for me that's the wrong image and will just lead to it's eventual demise.

I give you Reverend Pippa White, 29, attempting to change that image...

Yeah that makes a refreshing change rather than seeing an old man with a white collar around his neck and automatically thinking ‘pervert’
