Looks like it's going to be a 3 way tug of war for Gary in January and maybe a two way battle for Alex....Still yet to hear confirmation from United regardings Vidics injury but by what his agent said his going to be about for at least a few months with serious ruptured knee ligaments so it looks like their be joining us and spurs for Cahill in january as their going to need a defender.
I do still think were win the race due to we can offer the highest wages, champions league football, a partnership alongside the England captain, and AVB has a good relationship with Coyle added to the fact we loaned them Sturridge last season and are apparently prepared to loan them Josh if we get first dibs on Cahill.
If we do get cahill then i suspect Man u and spurs will be fighting over Alex? I for one wouldn't like to see him at a different premier league, but only january will tell !

I was under the impression Alex would be leaving England. Never anything concrete, but that was the sense I had been getting.

If we get a good deal for Alex then I'd be inclined to go for Jagielka.

Really cant see Alex at United. He'd be in the same boat he is now i.e on the bench. Jones and Rio will be there first choice now and he'd be relegated even further once Vidic came back. United have Rio, Jones, Smalling and Evans still so I'm sure they will just ride it out. Fergies doesn't tend to panic buy.

Ditto for Cahill. I don't think United need him long term. It'll be between us and Spurs. Alex I think may go abroad.

He's 29 and wants regular first team football in the last half of his career...Arsenal or Tottenham may well be interested?

It's a squad game though and whatever the first choice 2 would be they wouldn't play every week. Injuries, suspensions, rotation etc. United had 4 decent centre halves and then still paid top dollar for Jones.

Luiz can also play full back or the holding role but I suspect with Cahill, Luiz and Terry would still be no 1 choice.

I'd heard Anelka was going to the new MLS team in Quebec.

Well for us Alex is looking set to leave so is an inexpensive option for such a good and P.L proven player.

As for Spurs, 'arry loves a bargain - see also pienaar.

yea, i agree he'd be a decent understudy, he's played the odd match for england so he has some potential, but its not a signing to bring the title to the bridge <ok>

I don't think any of us really feel that's the case, at least this season. In a year or two, though, it could prove to be.

  17. Cahill is a good player, and Harry will bring the best out in him.

Cahill to Chelsea is a done deal already so dream on son. Why an international defender would want to go to a small club who at best are looking at U-Ropey-Cup football is beyond gumption.
