Its been a couple of days now since I kicked off something about exposing Racism Ive read with interest both replies to my piece and Syds Racism: Thorny Subject It occurs to me that many contributors (and I notice some other clubs North East Club Supporters) have really challenged themselves by putting their feelings and values in type- a difficult and taxing challenge in many cases
It also occurs to me that I can imagine this being brought up again in future as it becomes half forgotten in the drama of what unflolds in the seasons ahead
What I think would be a really useful tool for moderators and "ourselves" is if these two articles could be combined under a heading such as "Racism Where We Stand" If moderators or indeed our selves involved in open discussion remember an incident covered...for example someone at the match making a stand.... a future contributor could be advised about ther questionable contributions and asked to read it again as a "sticky"....It would give the moderator another sanction...and also show in black and white exactly where we stand

I don't think it's really needed - nowdays most people aren't racist, and by the looks of things we're preaching to the converted

Thanks for your comment....I offered this from the viewpoint of someone who has witnessed conversations which descend quickly into slagging matches/foul language about the subject....and laboriously going over covered ground....This proposal is about a sanction ....If youve read those two articles you can see it does actually exist and some honest people are actually taking it on...inside the stadium..... "nowadays people arent racist"......One of the overiding topics Ive seen on this website is that practically everyday you couldnt discuss football issues because of it....it was the overiding topic mentioned by contributors .....Im no PC freak ...just a pragmatist

I've said on another thread that any racist (and other ott political) comments/posters should simply be deleted/banned from this site. I view this site as for SAFC matters and football in general. Make it plain that we have NO tolerance for this or them.

I am an advocate of free speech, and a staunch defender of it - but there is a time and place for debate and such. Just not here, about these topics.

I`d agree with you totally Roker What I found on first entering this site was a great deal of bullbaiting people seemed happy to go over the same ground ...particularly on one particular contributor...seemed to enjoy saying the same thing....rather than cut the "problem" dead as you say.....One person...Gordon Armstrong left because of it....as it was unchecked....I can imagine this rearing its head again with no sanction.....hence my idea.........

Hi again Roker....Ive just read your piece on that thread you mentioned and Im in total agreement Just to make myself clear what I was proposing was we had a "Dead Drop"....of all this stuff and then if a moderator read something he didnt like he could say.....Please read this.....next time...goodbye......I too dont want to discuss politics or moral issues particularly here.i found the endless rants and foul accusations a bore .....as Im sure a lot more did

Dead Drop/rules - in total agreement. Our words may differ slightly but reckon our views/aims are as one. I love talking about SAFC, having some fun/wum with other teams. Don't want to read about "moralistic" themes or enter into "philosophical debates".
