that’s a reason to potentially not renew his contract but until then he’s unlikely to generate more than £1-2m in transfer fee and I think he brings value beyond that.
Wouldn't say its sentimental reasons, he doesn't have to start and provides more depth across the back 4 than anyone else in the squad - certainly not the first defender I would be wanting to move on.
He also sets standards off the pitch etc. in a season of expected high turnover of players I think leadership from him will be key
Why I said IMO on LoN. we are all in agreement that we will need GK, CBX2, FB, CM LW RW and 2 out n out big bastard str8kers
Mayenda should be the starting striker next season. He'll probably have interest this summer as well.
For me: GK (possibly) RB CB + 1 more if someone leaves LB ____ | DM | | CM | -----> Depending on who leaves. | AM | LW RW ST Damn thats a lot of players, literally one of everything.
Now I think about it, it would be a bit easier if for example we signed a LW who can play RW or a ST who can play RW (not like wilson, but actually play RW) etc.
agree we definitely need to sign a striker to “replace” Danns though. Unless Trey signs a new deal and is seen as ready.
I dont want the overhaul some on here seem to want or assume we will get. We have the core of a top side, otherwise we wouldnt have pushed for top 2 so hard and so long. I would like us to evolve the squad, not revolutionise it. For me Jobe likely to go. Add that to the Watson dosh and we can be relatively big spenders. Having said that my first order of business would be good contracts for Neil if he can be persuaded, then the likes of Mayenda, Rigg, Mundle. If we have the core of Patto, Hume, Ballard, Seelt, ONien, Cirkin, Alese, Huggins, Neil, Rigg, Mundle, Roberts, Mayenda, Isidor we have a good base to go from. I would listen to offers for Browne, Poveda (probably just pay him off tbh), Hjelde, Anderson. I would like another CB, ideally Mepham. Replacing Jobe will be key. We wont get another profile like that, but I wouldnt mind targeting some pace in there. A new right and left winger. A new striker too. I think Danns comes here next season personally and would be excited by that. Then I suppose if we can use the loan market for a really creative playmaker I would do it, but I predict Rigg will blossom next season as an 8 and a creative side will emerge.
agree they will improve but just them 2 ain't good enough especially if we get to premier league and even if we stay in championship need more than just 2
Think Mayenda has a good chance at being one of the best in the championship next season if his development continues.
