I’m still in shock that JHT has gone to be honest as I think most of the fan base is, whether they wanted him out or not.

Still, he won’t be coming back so perhaps time to talk about the potential new candidates?

Daniel Farke

All being mentioned due to previous connections with the club but all I think might see themselves above us now and should you ever go back to a previous club. If we were to go for someone with Norfolk connection - Liam Manning would be my choice.

There are also some names from further afield being mentioned. The ex-Young Boys manager (after Wagner) Raphael Wickey has been suggested by Graeme Bailey.

A point I was going on to make in my transition post was the stories I was getting both officially and unofficially about a breakdown of discipline and team spirit at the Club. It only takes one bad apple etc etc. We might need a strict disciplinarian to get things back on track. Ron Saunders is dead and Paul Lambert is too old but Sean Dyche is available. I know he puts good defence first but, unlike Smith and Wagner, he also believes in quick counter attacking as well as full fitness being essential. He is also good at bringing through youngsters.

Yes I was going to mention that the club has a total lack of discipline and we need a manager who is able to sort that and the defence
 
No we don't want ex-players & no we don't need Southampton's failed ex manger.
Also, we don't need Everton's ex failed manager, who's performance was so poor, Moyes has improved the squad a thousand fold.
Can see it being Wilshire (cheap option, think Olé).
No doubt our scouting team will be scouring the whole of Europe hunting the manager with the best fit for the tactics and formation required.

I don't think Dyche failed at Everton. He kept them up against terrible odds and Moyes admitted that he was lucky to get the job at that time as Dyche had done all the hard work. Most Managers fail at some time. On the basis of results Farke failed at Norwich and Emery failed at Arsenal but does that make them bad Managers? We will have to agree to disagree as I still feel that the unrest amongst the players etc has reached the stage where we need a strong minded guy who will weed out the problems, get rid of the troublemakers, unite the squad and use the old fashioned size 11 boot up the proverbial to get them fit and motivated and certainly not somebody struggling with the language.

I think most managers often have one time where everything goes right and they get a name for themselves and then they live off that for the rest of their career. There are very few 'good' managers out there
 
His Wiki page quotes him describing his style of play as:

Raphael Wicky is being mentioned as of interest. Former Young Boys, league winner, champions league but out of work for a year or nearly. 88 games in charge of them, 51 wins.

Dyche certainly failed this season, he's a football dinosaur. Was it something like 1 win in 15 matches, they were on the verge of relegation in January, now comfortably 'mid'-table.
Yes Farke failed here, in the long term aims at least. Great at getting us out of this league, but with the squad available that should have been relatively straightforward. However he failed spectacularly in the EPL. Ridiculous number of GA, no away clean sheet all season, 15 defeats in row, record as it stands.
As for Emery, he did at Arsenal, club with high expectations and money, less of an issue at Villa. Could even argue Arteta has been poor given the lack of progress with returns on money spent.
Martin failed at Soton, he almost failed in taking them up, persisted in a woeful play out from the back system and refused to change when Stevie Wonder could see it wasn't working.

Certainly agree, but this isn't a 1 season issue. I'm not so sure we have trouble makers (a la Francis), we don't just have a Howson / Johnson / Tettey to kick some derriere anymore. I'd also like to know what goes on at Colney in respect of training given I remember this being an issue with Smith's & Wagner's tenure of fatigue / tiredness in the last 20 minutes of matches.
the other issue to address is the signing of injury prone players, this.needs.to.stop. If we have any expectation of promotion during the next 2-5 years we need players available on rotation, not sitting on therapists benches collecting paychecks.

Paddy Davitt's take on Wilshere's debut:

"It showed a degree of innovation and more broadly cohesion from Wilshere and his coaching staff with barely any time to prep at Colney these past few turbulent days. Wilshere’s stamp was evident not only in the shift in personnel but mindset. There was a speed of pass, an appetite to the closing down out of possession and a welcome fluidity and rotation in midfield. Even the sight of second half arrival Oscar Schwartau in a more accustomed central midfield role felt like a comforting sign. As a first glimpse at Wilshere’s coaching credentials, it was a tick in the box."

QPR manager Marti Cifuentes being linked, looks to have done a decent job there and they seem to love him. Although West Brom currently looks like his most likely destination.

Watford manager Tim Cleverley also linked but I can’t see that one happening hopefully.

Full-back Jack Stacey says Norwich City players want Jack Wilshere to be appointed as full-time boss at Carrow Road.

The 29-year-old played alongside Wilshere for former club Bournemouth in 2020-21 and was handed a more attacking role on the flank at Middlesbrough on Saturday in Wilshere's first game in interim charge, having replaced Johannes Hoff Thorup four days earlier.

Speaking to BBC Radio Norfolk at a special Norwich City Fans' Social Club evening at the Lion and Castle pub at Carrow Road, Stacey said: "We have complete trust in the board to pursue whoever they think is the best man for the job.

"Personally, and I think I can speak for all of the changing room, I think we'd be delighted for Jack to get it.

"You always want a manager that shows belief in you. The way he's come in and instilled confidence into individual players, it makes you want to do well for him and feel you can perform to your best."

The club have begun to play music to loosen up during their training sessions under Wilshere and Stacey admitted: "It can sound silly but for me it's about getting that enjoyment back into the football.

"Throughout my career I've played my best football because you feel free and can go onto the pitch and try things.

"It is about trying to get that freedom back and the positivity – I think the fans want to see it and maybe they saw a little more of it in the last game."

Stacey has been involved in all 48 of City's games this season, appearing in 43 of them and remaining on the bench in five Championship games, and admitted he was surprised the club had parted ways with Dane Thorup.

"Unfortunately football is a results business and that's the decision the club have made," added Stacey.

"It's never nice because it's always the human element of a nice man who worked extremely hard is now out of a job."
 
When I read that article this morning, the part that stood out to me was this:

"It can sound silly but for me it's about getting that enjoyment back into the football. Throughout my career I've played my best football because you feel free and can go onto the pitch and try things. It is about trying to get that freedom back and the positivity – I think the fans want to see it and maybe they saw a little more of it in the last game."

Had the transition tactics become a constriction on innovation and creativity? The Boro game looked and felt different. The possession based principles were there, but the progressions were less predictable and there was energy and individual creativity throughout. It's only one game, but if that can be carried forward, it could make a big difference.

Yes I agree that this stuck out to me too, and JW has also talked about injecting some fun and enjoyment around the training ground. There’s a rumour that the players felt that there was far too many meetings and not enough time out on the training pitch
