Something that hit me on the way to college this morning, and thats the question

Why do we have so many fake rivalries and fans winding us up?

So I thought about it, and come to the conclusion that is was jealousy. Before Markus took over, we hardly had any of this, yet when he took over we had Bournemouth, Brighton, Bristol City, Blackpool, Swindon to name just a few. I think its purely down to jealousy on their part that we are rich and they are not, It's the only thing I can think of that could cause this. I'm sure there are a few more teams but I can't quite think at this early time.

Thoughts?

The first season in League 1 a lot of people called us arrogant for believing we were going to get back to the Championship quickly. Well it only took 2 seasons and now a lot of us think we could be promoted to the Premier League at the first attempt. Do people still think we are arrogant for believing that?

I also think a certain part of of the fans fraternity (very small %) who have become arrogant regarding our fourtunate finiancial position (or it seems we are) and even more so being top of the league. I think a fair few teams seem to get upset with some obvious arrogance and tarnish the club with the same brush. Those are the same people that boo at games and will probably boo the team off if the lose tomorrow. These are also the fans that think we were a premiership club in league 1 rather than a league one club in league one.
That said I have almost enjoyed (in a sick way) the rivalry with Bompey and Brighton as wins over those teams and away trips have been that much more enjoyable. Lets hope we win tomorrow after the team losing on my birthday last week. It upset me greatly :-(

This is probably because of Cortese's crazy ideas!

Cortese thinks higher of SFC than even our most rabid fans, but I don't care as long as he delivers.

When hasn't he delivered? It's great to have such an ambitious chairman, champions league football at St.Mary's in the future?I'd never even thought about it before he mentioned it.It might become a reality in the future...who knows?

It's not arrogance, it's realism. Southampton, Leeds, West Ham, Coventry, Leicester, the Sheffield teams - we're all in the wrong leagues.

i disagree - every team is where they deserve to be, you finish in bottom 3 you deserve to go down simple as that

Yeah but lets face it, Leeds United v Doncaster Rovers - in the same league !! That fixture should be laughed at in all honesty.
