While performances have been poor since the international break, yesterday seemed particularly flat. It almost felt we had the wrong boots on or something as so slow around the pitch. Their penalty followed about a minute of us being slow and out of position. Not sure if leggy after Coventry game or collectively nervous which can do strange things to a team. Whatever it was, Ruben needs to sort it for Monday - huge test for his credibility.
Selles has done an admirable job, but yesterday was something on his part that’s happened too often. Was just having a look at the bad results, all of them have come with questionable starting 11s.
We need as much continuity in the 11 as possible moving into the last 3. We need runners and grafters, sack the likes of Palmer off for the forseeable
Leggy? Just wait till Monday. I presume it was a Selles planned tactic but for the first 20 mins against Swansea Pedro and Palmer were chasing shadows, it was a sort of press but those two against the Swansea goalie and back two were an ragged. No wonder Pedro had nothing left to give when we finally got hold of the ball.
Minor gripe but why do so many of our supporters misspell the names of our players and coaches? I’ve seen people refer to a ‘Sellers’ as our head coach on Twitter and Facebook. Are some of our supporters just thick?
I’ve not been impressed by Sellés in recent weeks but the people calling for his head in the summer (or even now) are insane. Even if we go down, I’d give him the same opportunity Ehab gave McCann. The last thing we need is more interference in matters he knows **** all about from our dodgy twat owner.
We need stability and coherence but everyone wants an overhaul if we don't have immediate success. It's ****ing stupid.
Selles mentioned after Coventry that one of the things he's been drilling into the players is to be more no-nonsense about clearing the ball during those first few minutes of the second half; to get it properly clear up the pitch, not half-clear it to someone five yards out of the box to put it back in again. So in this game I was paying close attention to that. At one point Drameh gave it a proper hoof up the pitch where I thought yep, that's what he was talking about. But there were a couple of other points where we missed obvious opportunities to clear it and allowed the attack to continue. Lincoln in particular had it at his feet on the edge of our box facing up the pitch and for some reason he just waited so long that he was eventually forced off it. Too much of that sort of thing from players like him and Palmer for me, they don't do anything with conviction. Same when Puerta put him through on goal and he just didn't ever look like taking the chance decisively, and when you're passive like that refs are so much more reluctant to give you a foul, as he found out.
My phone is determined to change Selles to Sellers. I must've typed the latter once when talking about the U21s or something and now it corrects Selles to Sellers every time I type it. Usually I notice but not always.
It's so cyclical this thing with managers too. We hounded out Rosenior having compared him to Carrick and others who were doing so much better supposedly. Now we're starting to do the same with Selles. And no one who called for the sacking that gave us this ****e season seems to admit in any way that it's proven them wrong. For a while they were determined to bring up Rosenior every time he lost a game at Strasbourg and every time a job went to someone other than him in the summer, but now he's fighting for the Champions League he's not to be mentioned. They're determined not to learn any lessons from it.
I was very critical of Rosenior toward the end of last season as I thought we should’ve done more. We drew a lot of games we should’ve probably won and dropped a lot of points in the race for the play-offs. However, even I was surprised Acun sacked him in May last year. I backed Walter and defended him as I thought the owner’s antics had hamstrung him. He needed to go though. Now Walter’s gone, I’ll back his successor, though not uncritically.
Acun’s problem is that he doesn’t do nuance. I would’ve given Rosenior another summer window despite being one of his harshest critics on here and I said as much before he even got sacked. The Q&As really solidified for me how much of a fickle moron Acun is.
That Q&A did irreparable damage for some. People really drunk the Acun kool aid. It does appear now some are realising how short term and fickle Acun is. Even if we stay up I get the feeling sentiment around him is on a very short leash
Acun surrounds himself with yes men which makes him think he’s capable of contributing on the decisions of the playing side. He needs to stick to selling the club to potential players and stay out of decisions
The Q & A was embarrassing. I think Acun has done lots of good things in his time but that was one of the biggest PR issues I’ve seen from an owner.
You just can’t come out and single out individual players, especially ones that the only criticism is ‘I didn’t like his performances’
Some I speak to still don’t see the stupidity about his comments on Allsop and Connolly because “he was right”

The comments about Allsop and Connolly being ‘right’ are surface level. We, as fans, can be critical on forums and social media of individual players and their performances but ultimately, the decision who plays is the head coach’s. For an owner of the club to publicly throw individual players under the bus to the fans because of their performances is beyond the pale. It’s so unprofessional and piss-poor. The guy’s a clown and it only takes his fragile ego to be hurt for him to turn out like Chansiri. He really reminds me of Musk in that he’s a business owner who has cultivated this weird personality cult around him but he has an incredibly thin skin and will let that influence business decisions.
I really can’t stand him and despite how much I was glad to see the back of the Allams, I think this guy will end up being worse at the end of it.
