I was told they sold out, but you never know what the term 'sold out' means these days. The RL derby was supposed to be sold out yesterday but there were empty seats even in the away end. The bowler hat thing rings a bell, and remember last time they came here on a similar occasion, they were very noisy in and out of the ground, especially in the pub. Big day out for them coming to Hull it seems. Remember one saying to me in the pub last time, 'Bit of a ****hole Hull innit'? I asked how long they'd been here, and reminded him that I had actually been to Preston myself about a dozen times. His mate piped up and said 'we've just got off the train' then bought me and my mate a pint! But must stress again they were very noisy and I don't think it was all through drink at that time in the morning.
Preston are the worst performing team in the league over the last 10 games, whilst our 10 game form is distinctly mid-table. The form guide is much closer over the last 6 games whilst over the last 3 games it's identical (and poor all-round). They're pretty much safe, we're pretty much not. What's keeping our head above water at the moment is the ineptitude of others; our own ineptitude isn't helping though. This is a win at all costs game. Therefore we need to start our proven goalscorers (don't laugh). That's Pedro and Kamara. They will score if chances are created for them. This is where the problem lies. Who do you select on the left and in midfield to ensure that well played balls arrive in the box?
I was at the game yesterday…3 empty seats to my right…and 1 to my left..not sure if sold out or I have BO
PNE's Gentry Day. Great. Just what we (don't) need. Their players will be up for it. Of course we need the win, but we must get at least a point (then v Derby could be a true must win). Panda Coyle Jones Hughes Macca Alzate Puerta Kamara Gelhardt (10) Joseph (or Burstow) Pedro He has to get Kamara believing he's a world (or at least Championship) beater and to work his bollox off. Rather than someone who looks like he's lacking in confidence, caught in headlights, unsure, etc. Gelhardt central, roaming, causing a threat, but not thinking he has to do it all himself. Give Pedro some service from centre and from wide. Something Selles has failed to deliver game after game after game. Wrong time unfortunately to bring Drameh and Jacob back in, possibly same with Burstow, having basically stalled, even demoralised them by shutting them out rather than blooding them in over recent months. That starting 11 is plenty good enough, and there's reasonable subs to bring on as impact subs or to see the game out. Enough to give it a right good go v Preston and Derby. Whether they will or not, twt. Alternatively, if Selles is brave enough to try something different, then the 3-5-2 that ST posted on the Swansea thread. As others have said, we seem to have gone backwards since the break. We know they can do better. Selles has to get better from this squad now, something he & they've have shown they can do.
Another late equaliser for City, say on 83 mins, with 7 mins + plus added on to find a winner! No idea how it ends!
Lincoln? Palmer? Crooks? Amrabat? All odd signings who, although each have had their moments, don't contribute enough in a consistent manner. Crooks is obviously unavailable on Monday but are any of the other three going to dominate the game for us and be the standout performer? Our squad has a handful of forgotten men (Burns, Jacob, Vaughan, Sinik (more lost than forgotten I guess)) and then there's the long term injuries. We're really threadbare. I don't envy Selles actually picking a side which is going to dominate in an attacking sense from what he's got, never mind motivating them to actually do so. Our best chance is to defend well (at least we're capable of that) and hope to nick a goal. We're due a bit of luck. That's a depressing scenario though.
I was in station after last years match and they were very noisy and cocky , to be honest I didn’t like it at all . Not on my manor !!! LOL
At least I won't have to share a train back West with them this time. Can't stand Lancastrians. Every bit as cocky and obnoxious as Wessies.
I don't agree that it's must win. If we lose though saturday does become a must win, but it will be for Derby too. Whatever happens against preston we must not lose against Derby. It looks like it's going down to the final kick of the last game

This is exactly why it’s a must win game, if we don’t beat Preston then we have to beat a fellow relegation rival at home…..there isn’t a person on this board that would back us to do that. Even the players won’t fancy it
Agreed Tony. But we aren't down if we lose on Monday. Agree that we will be in a lot of trouble. Even if we win then we still need to make sure we don't lose the Derby game. It could well be that game that decides who stays up
Nah, we'll beat Derby on the gween gween gwass of home. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
