I agree, I really want it to be this season. Don't fancy championship football without the likes of Neil, Cirkin, Ballard, Hume, Jobe and more potentially. We need to get into the club that gets PL money and parachute payments if we fancy standing a chance at getting up and staying there in the next few years
I do agree with this. I feel like many of our fans are far too fragile and couldn't cope with the bad season in the Prem though. It would get toxic against our manager and owners very quickly.
To be fair mate, they’ve basically cleared a high interest overdraft we had with a loan from themselves. It’s not going to say Kyril has paid it out of his own personal Santander account or something ha.
Well that’s what you’d be looking at the season after next if we go up + another 15 totally pissed of players, but don’t worry we’ve got £35mill to spend to build a premiership side
Going up changes the club for the next decade. It would be rough on the pitch and i'd put it at 90% we come straight back down but play your cards right and you're likely to go straight back up. It would put us into a position that is 10x the one we are in now.
I’d fully expect relegation. The gulf is MASSIVE. Going up this season is more about the long term effects for the club, and they’d be for the better!
The price for players like Jobe and Rigg would instantly double, the players we could attract especially with our willingness to play youth would be incredible, the infrastructure, sponsorship deals, high profile pre seasons (think this is why we've held off on announcing this summers), prize money for finishing even 20th is huge, tv money, trips to top grounds and the big boys coming here, sell outs most weeks at home. List goes on.
Exactly. I’ll never understand those wanting to remain in the championship. Don’t people miss watching us in genuine big games?!
I think it is quite interesting to ponder what it would take to be prem ready. I dont believe it is impossible mate. For what it is worth I think we need go go up with 6 players in the team that will relish premier league football. Then maybe another 6 who could do a job. That leaves you buying around 6 players and maybe loaning 2. Would the likes of Jobe, Neil, Mundle, Hume, Rigg do well in the prem? I think so. Do Cirkin, Ballard, ONien, Isidor, Mayenda get a chance? Do we keep Patto to challenge a new lad? Then we presumably buy Mepham and Le Fee? Probably requires us to buy 5 at that point. A GK, a CB, ST, CM, RW. Add a young LB and RB on loan. How far away does that leave us? Then an unknown of course is how many points is the coach worth? Some coaches squeeze points out through tactical smarts. Lets say we dont go up this season. Assume we lose Jobe and Neil. Lets be conservative and go £40m. Watson £10m. So we have £50m in the bank. Maybe another £3-5 from bit part players. We have Patto, Hume, Ballard, Mepham, ONien, Cirkin, Hjelde, Rigg, Mundle, Robertd, Isidor, Mayenda and Rigg. Lets say Mepham knocks us back £7m. If we invest £25m on top of what we have where does that take our squad? Two new CMs, new RW. Backup full backs. Young with us for a season competing with Patto. Maybe Seelt and Huggins come in and shine? Maybe the young striker breaks through. Aleksic has a breakthrough season. Mayenda flies. We go up next year and say sell Rigg for £40m. We have kept £20m back from the Jobe and Neil money. Have more squad depth to take (arguably). £60m, plus say £40m of our year one money. We buy players of a higher level then. Do we have a better chance of staying up? Maybe so. Once you are past year 1 you can set yourselves. The money from a second consecutive year in thd prem is much more than a parachute payment. Just hoying ideas around. But I can see a world where KLD is saying look this year great, lets take our chances, but also clearly having a plan that favours next season as the big push. Probably talking ****e. And I do think going up this year is there for the taking and we should take it. In a selfish level I would get to more away games which would be handy.
Promotion would be transformational. I fully buy in to the theory that in an “ideal world” we’d keep all our players but be promoted a year later to give them another year to mature. But there’s no such thing as an ideal world and there’s no guarantee we’ll ever be promoted again. So we have to want to take the opportunity when it’s presented.
