For me the biggest single mistake was not shipping out Al Hamedi on loan at the start of the Season and bringing in an experienced lump like Moore.
No you can’tIf £40m is the release clause then we can still command more than that if clubs bid against each other and if they don’t then it’s a fair price. We’ve done well out of that transfer in any scenario.
Your entire window was a mistake, I called it a scattergun approach and was accused of jealousy. You are not going to be able to move anyone on either, no PL team will want any of them and you paid top price, championship teams can’t afford them and their value will decreaseFor me the biggest single mistake was not shipping out Al Hamedi on loan at the start of the Season and bringing in an experienced lump like Moore.
No you can’t
They can all bid £40m and the player decides, someone can bid £40m and another £50m the release clause has been activated so the £40m can’t be turned down

Still think you’ll have the best team in the championship though so should be top two
I replied to your comment, you said if he has one, then others can still start a bidding war, that’s garbage. If he has one he can choose where to go by anyone offering that amountristac you’ve had eyes on the terms of the contract have you? No-one else has, it’s speculation.

On another note, you do realise it’s his agent leaking the clause don’t you
Let’s make it simple to understand for you. Replying to this comment the answer is NO you can’tIf £40m is the release clause then we can still command more.

Do you just feel silly that I’ve pointed out your error. I don’t read the red tops, I am not replying to anything they print, I’m replying to your statement.Alright then let’s play go round in circles. The Mirror says a bidding war makes a figure of £60m likely. By your measure it’s in the papers so that MUST be true, right?

Because you want to deflect from your incorrect statement you are seeking an argument and to make this something different.
None of us know the fine details of any contract and most fans spend hours crazily speculating on who's in, out and their hand me down negotiating value.
It’s the relegation release fee clause that he allegedly has, City don’t need him back, they’ll pocket the £12m instead unless you stay up then you can start a biding war or keep him.The £40 million buyback clause is only for Manchester City, apparently. So in theory, we could drum up a bidding war between Chelsea and Manchester United.
Why I don't think it'll go that much higher is Man City will probably pounce at the £40 million fee if the figure climbs north of £60 million. That way they can get better value for him with a subsequent move - similar to what Villa did with Philogene. That's assuming Delap chooses Man City - where he'll be a bench option behind Haaland - rather than a likely starter for Man United and Chelsea.
I feel Al Hamidi has been harshly criticised this season but agree with your point that it was a mistake not to bring in another striker. It would've been interesting to see and I do wonder whether if we did whether Delap would've been used as a main striker or we may have seen him in some of the other forwards positions more often.
For me the GK was a big mistake, bringing in new players too quickly and dropping players who were in good form and taking too much of a risk on our CM with loans (1 injury prone midfielder and Kalvin Phillips) and not investing in that area.
Al-Hamadi has looked notably out of his depth whenever he's stepped on a Premier League pitch this season, in my opinion. Hardly unique to the team this season, but I can't recall him turning a game to our advantage off the bench. Even against tired Premier League defences, he was nullified. But I get the criticism is harsh, as he wasn't signed to be a Premier League player and hasn't played much in the grand scheme of things. The club probably hoped he wouldn't be needed with Delap and Hirst ahead of him, but they knew Hirst's injury record. It was a bit of a gamble not signing another centre-forward. Had Hirst been fit over the mid-season run of defeats against the likes of Palace and Forest - rather than playing a clearly fatigued Delap week-in, week-out as Al-Hamadi wasn't up to scratch - I'm confident we'd have had a few more points on the board. As Big Al says, loaning him out at the start of the season and bringing in a more capable, experienced centre-forward would've been the best move.
Benefit of hindsight and all that - but I think if the club could rewind to the summer, they'd have also brought in a different goalkeeper. I don't think we had the scouting network established, but for the wider squad we probably would've identified and signed more players like Cajuste (under-rated, technically capable, top division experience) rather than Phillips (too expensive, arguably on the decline).

The clause is apparently set at £30m according to the Guardian.
And Manchester City still get a 20% cut? Ouch. Still, it’s a fair chunk of change in the Championship and we’ve essentially doubled our money (assuming he hasn’t hit any £5m add ons which hopefully only got activated with us avoiding relegation).
I guess none of us really thought he’d score as many goals as he has. Shame though, as it’s massively undervalued in this market.
