Actually closer than I thought.

Yeah. I said the other day that the primary reason for the gap between us and the other two is our back-to-back home games against them both. Despite leading in both games, we only took one point. If we take the full six, then all three of us are neck and neck.

The season has been so horrendous for all three of us that it only takes a very small number of matches to have quite a big impact in the standings amongst us three. It makes us look miles worse than the other two, when in reality all three of us are dreadful.

I wouldn't be shocked if Palace get picked apart this summer. More so than the likes of Brentford and Brighton.

They've done well to overcome to losses of Olise and Andersen last summer (albeit maybe that explains their slow start). But if they were to follow it by losing Guehi, Wharton, Eze and Mateta (or maybe three of them), that would be difficult. And Mitchell is out of contract.

Henderson, Sarr and Lacroix are all having good seasons too.

Fulham fans getting selfies with Eze. Kids I understand but some adults as well. Get a ****ing life. You just missed out on a trip to Wembley because of him!

Meslier should get together with Bazunu and Muric to start some sort of dreadful goalkeepers club

As funny as it would be to see Leeds miss out on promotion again, I don't think it would be good news for us next season (to still have them as a rival). And it definitely wouldn't be good news for my title-winners accumulator.

Stupid Leeds.

Here’s hoping that Spors and the new manager do what needs to be done and bring in a new no.1 to replace Ramsdale next season. If it were purely down to SR I’d give it 95% that we reinstate Baz as our no.1 even though he wasn’t good enough last season in the Championship and has barely played since. You can’t always just outscore the opposition, and 1-0 is worth just as many points as 5-2. As Burnley have found out for much of the season.

Macca is easily good enough for the Champ. We need to spend in other areas.

I think you normally have two seasons to get back up before you begin to fall back into the pack.

I don't envy Spors there. It's arguably the most difficult decision to make in the summer, because it's unlikely that we would be able to attract a long-term, PL-quality GK. Do we stick with Bazunu/McCarthy/Lumley (delete as applicable) for a season and hope we get by, or do we go out and replace Ramsdale but in the knowledge that we might then have to replace that replacement just 12 months later?

With outfield players, there will be glut of PL youngsters available on loan - there is every year. But a youngster is not what you want in a GK. So that route is off the table.

Will they be as good next season though? Gets a lot tougher in your third season and they could be down for a while again if they **** it up this season.

They would almost certainly have to sell players I would have thought.

Oh I agree. As every year goes by, you would expect them to get weaker. The drop in parachute money between year 2 and year 3 is sizeable.

But I would still expect Leeds to pose a tougher test than any of the other sides who might get the third promotion place instead.
