I’ve a personal pension my mother made me take out at 18. I’ve now merged it with my company one as I do salary sacrifice as well. I can’t take my lump sum yet still have to wait. It is a worry what these pricks will do, I feel they are just out to steal our money and tax us into poverty. Just had recent bills council tax up, water through the ****ing roof. I hope these water companies aren’t paying dividends this year, bet they will and I will have funded it.

You pay into state pension through national insurance contributions. Min 10 years you get a bit of state pension, pay around 35 years you get full state pension. About £211 @ week rising to about £230 @ week in april.
You can check how many full years you paid using Nat ins number on gov website. Supposed to be tripple locked so gov can't raid it, but this liebour lot are on the Rob big time and prob not worried about consequences and can't be trusted !

Private pensions topped up by tax relief of 20% for basic rate tax payers more for higher earners ?
Also not safe from the grabbing liebours grubby hands ! If they raid that and hit the tax incentive people will get as much out as they can asap and stop paying in. Future plans for it will go to pot !

Rachel from accounts is on about cutting the 20k tax free isas to 4k too ! Constant attacks on those working and that want to provide for themselves n families plus future independence . They are losing control of inflation and spending billions of our taxes on s**t we don't need or want while bills are going through the roof, points at they want brits poor and uk ruined, bankrupted ?

It’s been ‘leaked’ that there will be no change to the £20k cash ISA limit in her Spring Statement - but likely to be announced that it willl reduce to £4k when she delivers the Autumn Statement, but that won’t become effective until April 2026.

As for the State Pension, they (Liebour) are trailing that it is a benefit and not a right …..

So we had the Spring Statement yesterday.

Unfortunately, the elephant in the room which was not mentioned by the Chancellor yesterday for obvious reasons was the national insurance increase for employers which will start in less than two weeks time with the OBR stating that three quarters of the cost of the tax rise will ultimately be passed on to workers through lower wages with the rest hitting profits.

Indeed, how businesses respond to this tax change will probably be the main determinant as to whether the economy recovers or not or, as many are now predicting, there will be further tax rises in the Autumn statement.

Working in Neath I have seen shops shutting and even stalls in the Market closing. Independent shops are supposed to be the lifeblood of towns and cities. But never mind there are plenty of Turkish barbers, vape shops, nail bars etc,,,,

I walked around Neath on Tuesday …. what a depressing sight… closed shops everywhere.

No wonder I rarely go into my hometown anymore ….

With M and S leaving due apparently to problems with work needed on the building by the landlord who wanted the tenant to pay some a major reason for shopping in Neath town centre has gone. Yes there is a Range which replaced Wilkos and of course an Iceland and Morrisons but that is it...

I remember many towns I've visited over the years that gave a **** about thier shopping centres and had huge open car parking next to the shopping areas mostly for free !

Not now and Swansea is one of the worst ! If you can find somewhere to park they charge rip off prices and make it complicated to pay !

The council have a new camera car going round town and surrounding areas non stop trying to fine anyone they can ££££ for the council who like the gov don't seem to work for us !

Fair enough those parking in dangerous or obstructive places shouldn't!
It had me last week dropping someone off at castle gardens in that taxi rank which was empty and causing no obstruction at all, no obvious sign saying no stopping ? Even for a min got me a blackmail fine of £70 now or £35 if pay within 28 days ! So that tells me it's just a money making scam for the #### that rule us here !

I've not set foot in town shopping for many years cos it's to much hassle and there's only the market and remnants of shut down banks that may be worth going for imo .

I’m told that the footfall in Neath has reduced significantly since M&S left - the Range moved in to replace Wilko having had sight of the footfall figure from when Marks was open …

British Steel will consult on the closure of our two blast furnaces, steelmaking operations and a reduction of steel rolling mill capacity in Scunthorpe.

Since 2020 our shareholder, Jingye, has invested more than £1.2bn to maintain operations amid ongoing production instability and significant financial losses of around £700k a day.

Investments to date include over £300m in strategic capital projects such as a state-of-the-art mast service centre in Skinningrove, a rail stocking facility and a new billet caster.

Despite this, the blast furnaces and steelmaking operations are no longer financially sustainable due to highly challenging market conditions, the imposition of tariffs, and higher environmental costs relating to the production of high-carbon steel.

The company had sought support from the UK Government for a major capital investment in two new Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF). However, following many months of negotiations, no agreement has been reached.

As a result, the difficult decision has been made to consult with employees and to consider proposals to close the blast furnaces and steelmaking operations and reduce rolling mill capacity.

We understand this is an extremely difficult day for our staff, their families, and everyone associated with British Steel.

But we believe this is a necessary decision given the hugely challenging circumstances the business faces.

We remain committed to engaging with our workforce and unions, as well as our suppliers and customers during this time.
