Had a right old throw back Sunday today. Had a free day so thought I would make the most of it.

Actually bought a newpaper this morning. An actual real one. Mind you a lot of it wasnt even good enough to wrap a fish supper in.

Had a couple of hours down the allotment.

(No Sunday Roast!! - on my own till about 7pm?)

Watched an afternoon Western. The man who shot Liberty Vallance.

    Just woke from a nap.

Now all I need is a bit of Harry Seacombe and a Sunday bath <laugh>

Got me thinking this of when I was late teens, early twenties. We would play footy on a Sunday morning then off to the pub for beers and maybe a lock in Sunday afternoon, watching Italian footy on channel 4 or if no lock in going home and falling asleep with the footy on.

    Simple times

Took the bairn down to watch some Sunday league footy this morning. Southwick were playing The Lansdown in a cup semi final down at the Duck on Thompson Rd. Southwick won 5-3 but it was late on when they got the 5th and got a bit edgy. Was probably about 100 ther watching.

Probably some of the old throw back Sundays for me would be totally hung over from the match and staying out till closing the night before, going down my mam and dads for Sunday dinner with home made Yorkshire puddings, with veg and whatever meat mam fancied which was either pork or beef, followed by homemade rice pudding. Washing up to say that I did something, sit around for about an hour watching their programs and then head home to fall asleep on the couch with sky football on the tv

I used to hate the Antiques roadshow theme tune on a Sunday. Always meant that it was back to school in the morning. :emoticon-0106-cryin

    I feel your pain.
As for me, I remember watching Ski Sunday, Antiques Roadshow (already mentioned but for some reason required viewing in our house). Then there was Credo with Harry Secombe, Songs of Praise. There was also a dramatisation of Great Expectations on as well. I was doing that for O Level not that it helped me, still failed it. Weekend World was another along with University Challenge.
As much as I love my life, it was so much simpler back then wasn’t it?

It certainly was mate. The theme tune to Ski Sunday was Elite.

Just on the cricket...... I'm backing the Sunrisers in the IPL.

Before I got married and lived with my best mate we spent every Saturday lunchtime in the pub. Come home to watch the final scores on SSN, then kebab and a couple of DVDs. a far simpler time…

Late twenties we chased the rippers onstage times around Shields. How times have changed...

I discovered Jesus as my saviour in 2014, so all misdemeanours before then have been forgiven. There is time for everyone.

Late 70's Sunday - pub football in morning, in pub for 12 to 2 session (the opening hours of the time- so everyone there at same time for great community atmosphere)- then in summer 3 or 4 carloads to coast for beach kickabout ( drivers, seemed to be on rotas of turns, remarkably good at staying off the booze). Back home, shower, mams warmed up Sunday dinner (seemed better warmed up, maybe just that starving by that time ) then back to pub for warm down drinking, early bed because it was 10;00 closing on a Sunday. Oh for a time machine
