Tan Kesler was just not the guy we seemingly thought he was.

Unless his real name was Tania, then I'd love to know what he got up to.

Darmborough left on 3 June to join Stoke and Dublin joined us on 14 Aug 24.

Signings after Darmborough left have been

    Millar 9 Aug
    Burns 9 Aug
    Drameh 23 Jul

    Hughes 16 Aug
    Burstow 16 Aug
    Belloumi 30 Aug
    Puerta 27 Aug
    Zambrano 16 Aug

So 2 signing happened between Darnbourgh leaving and Dublin starting. It's fair to say that the 5 between 15 August and 30 Aug were already in the pipeline when Dublin joined, so were during the Brain teams time, as you put it.

So to say things got worse seems to me to be rather over the top.

You conveniently forgot to mention that most of our signings were made after the first game of the season. This isn’t a criticism in hindsight. Lots of us were critical at the time about how slow we were in the window and barely any of our new signings participated in the pre-season preparations. That is entirely due to the so-called brain team and lack of structure at the club because the owner ****ed off to prioritise Fenerbahçe and left a dodgy guy like Kesler in charge.

I agree that signing did come later than we wanted, Darnborough leaving coupled with Tan going did create a problem for those left, which you would expect when you lose your head of operations and your recruitment manager and a new manager coming in, was not the brain team's fault IMO.

In my initial reply, I was talking about quality of signing rather than the timing of them. Bearing in mind the upheaval of your recruitment guy leaving coupled win Tan going, and a new manager coming in, was bound to upset things.

I agree the lateness was not ideal, but on the whole the signing have been good IMO, just the upheaval of getting the wrong manager in, and the injuries to 2 key players compounded the problems.

Don't think it's as easy as looking at those dates. You usually pick a target and sign in a few days sometimes the target is picked months or even a year in advance, you monitor the situation then in talks with the agent/player/club then the negotiations can take ages
