<peacedove>After below par performances' against PSG yesterday we are facing Southampton on Saturday. Southampton are bottom of the table nine points from twenty seven games, Liverpool at the top of the table Liverpool with 67 points from 27 games. Personally, I think Slot should rest Allison for this game, and some players also. We are facing PSG at home on Tuesday the 11th of March.

Lewis Smith has been confirmed as the referee,

Liverpool will have referee Lewis Smith officiate a Premier League match involving them for the first time when they play Southampton this weekend.
Smith, 31, will be in the middle of a top-flight match for just the fifth time this weekend. However, it will not be his first refereeing experience at Anfield after already doing so earlier this year when Liverpool faced Accrington Stanley in the third round of the FA Cup.

GAME: Liverpool v Southampton
DATE: Saturday 8th March
VENUES: Anfield

Just stay focussed and get the job done. On paper, our easiest chance to get three points, so let's get it done and move on. Arsenal don't play til Sunday, away at Man U, so we can go 16 points clear and put pressure on them to turn games in hand into actual points.

You can never relax not even against a team who have not played well all season. Start like it's a huge game (which it is) and we may have an opportunity to use the squad later in the game.

I would rotate one or two from the start though.

Yeah same, I’d bring Tsimikas, Jones & Nunez in and then look to rotate where we can if the game is going our way comfortably

Def need a bit of rotation but go strong. Win the game and then make changes 2nd half. Szobo and grav prob need a rest tbh

GOAT
taa Konate vvd tsimikas
mac jones
Salah Elliott diaz
Nunez

After this game Arsenal play 3 times before we play again so.......if we get to 16 points Arsenal can then reduce that to 7......but probably won't.

Their fixtures up until Fulham look kind form-wise, but I suppose West Ham looked kind too.

Think we have to remember the gap is actually only 10 as we’ve played a game more. Have to have mindset they will win their games.

As you say if we get to the Everton game with a 7 point lead that will be great and Arsenal will have 8 games to close 7 points. Couldn’t have done more from our side. it also forces Arsenal to beat United Chelsea and Fulham as any increase to the lead at this point has a huge psychological impact.

Arsenal 2004.

They'd play 15 minutes maybe 20 and be 2 up and just cruise.

When thry were on top form thry just blew the **** sides away.

We simply have to go and get this game over and done with fast.

I've seen so many just lazy half arsed slow performances by lfc over.many years when a big gsme is round the corner.

If we play half paced we give them a chance. Just go and pass it quickly and do our jobs and get the goals in

Just like Slot said after the game, “we have to approach Southampton like it’s a massive game, because it is”

They’re all worth a maximum of 3 points and you have to earn them in this league

Yup and arsenal earned them then by just blowing sides away.

That's what I mean by pass it fast and move.

If you play slow you make it ****ing easy for any side sit there and shuffle about.

We've not done bad tbf. I must have missed a lot of what you're on about.

For me this shows just how tight it actually is
If you take the above and say we don’t win against Southampton - suddenly it’s considerably tighter

as that 7 becomes 4/5 with a Derby up next - no guarantees
A game against team in second and 3 other horrid fixtures to close out the season
No way is this done

im talking generally over time, not secifically about Slotball times.

Theres load of examples of games where thes eplayers (klopp's signings) have had a big game in a few days and they just play like the **** team in fornt of them will roll over no matter what and then they play really slow with no urgency.

great example of this was last season.

We played palace just before atlanta second leg. managed to lose the game at anfield. you might have said 9 of our best 11 played and we sent trent and szoboszlai on.

its allabout approach and mentality.

I really just am saying i want to see us just go at it from the off, get the game won if we can with a couple goals then sit back and knock it about all we want.

lets not start by knokcing it about all we want when its 0-0

Its over mate.

look at the situation:

yes call it a 10 point gap, I do. it assumes arsenal will beat chelsea at home but the PSV result means they can rest in the cl.

however.

LFC play southampton at home, the bottom team with 9 points after 27 games.
Arsenal play man utd away.

If its not 10 points gap after the 16th of march then if should only be bigger not smaller.

My assumption right now is that we will all end up seeing a gap of 10 points after 29 games, anything else is a massive freaking bonus.

9 games to lose 11 points (as we have a +12 GD advatnage too)

so we will need 6 wins out of 9. we need to lose 3 games.

Everton H
fulham A
west ham H
leicester A
spurs H
chelsea A
arsenal H
brighton A
Palace H

We just literally decided we were doing anything to win v city and newcastle in any way we needed to and delivered. we play 5 at home.

If arsenal can't beat us at anfield then they are done done.

theres a decent chance (not 50/50 mind) that arsenal win neither of their games coming up.

There are a number of games in there that we can draw or lose against
If Salah is going to be effected by fasting (discussion taking place somewhere else - or even if he just tails off)
That points advantage will soon flip - should we lose this absolutely not
Can we still
Yes
Fulham away
Brighton away
Chelsea away
All loseable
Spurs H
Everton H
Deffo drawable

then we have Arsenal & Palace - I will never be comfy playing them - home or away

as for Arsenal - beating PSV 7-1 will have done them the power of good
Could see a similar score against Utd - they will have a very good run in now

However it’s 100% in our own hands currently
IF we beat Everton at home I may stop thinking the worst (for this season)

We have the advantage, we need to keep the momentum going. Arsenal are hoping for points deduction from Liverpool, that what Paul Merson was indirectly when he said “Arsenal has a better chance of winning the Premier League than the Champions League “ .We need to get the title done and dusted before we play Arsenal at Anfield.
