but with dickson it's different, as adkins has gone out and bought another LB when it wasn't really needed with other areas more important to buy

Oh it was needed, it really was.

But regardless, my point is that people can't say that Dickson isn't good enough for the Championship until he's been given a chance. Just look how much Chaplow and Richardson have improved, for example. And who knows, maybe it will turn out that left-midfield is where Dickson's future lies - and in that respect, he could turn out to be better than someone like Holmes for example.

Dickson is not in Nige's plans hence why he bought Fox. (tbh i don't see why we bought him in the first place as i thought Mills was a good back up and showed potential.)
So Dickson will be on his way.
We need to wait for Lee Barnard to get fully fit before we can see if he is good enough for this level. Put i have a feeling that he may not be good enough as he lacks the pace that this division requires.
Tommy Forecast falls into the same category as Anthony Pulis; F***ing useless!!! We should just terminate his contract.
Johnathan Forte isn't good enough i'm afraid, but will be forever grateful for his 2 goals against MK. Not sure we signed hime for 2 and half yrs, 18 months would have been fine.
I also think Ryan Doble's time is up. Clearly he has not done enough in training to impress Adkins for a place in the side, he signed a 1 yr extension deal last year and so far he hasn't done enough so he will be on his way. B'mouth can have in.

I do agree that Dickson will probably be on his way. On the face of it, he just isn't needed. Fox and Harding ahead of him for the LB position, Lallana and Holmes ahead of him for the LM position. But that doesn't mean he isn't good enough to play Championship football, and that was solely the point I was trying to make.

ryan doble has missed a large chunk of the season with injury - he has only just returned last 2 weeks or so

get rid of lambert, he is not good enough at this level

how was it needed when we had Harding, Dickson, Reeves & Joseph Mills at the time?

Quality, not quantity. Surely the fact that Nigel saw fit to spend £1.8 million shows that he wasn't 100% comfortable with our LB position.

No point in saying if barny is good enough or not, he'll be locked up soon. <laugh>

I really rate Barnard - he has Mackail-Smith's work rate but also has good technical ability and a good finisher. Once he gets match fit, he will be add massive competition for the strikers.

Dickson, Doble, Forecast and Forte will probably be on their way. Feel sorry for Dickson as I think he is better than Harding but Nige obviously disagrees ;)
Jaidi is retiring in the summer and I doubt Connolly will be given another contract. Does anyone know how long Seaborne has left on his contract?

you have just shot yourself in the foot there - you say dickson should be given a chance but the fact adkins DID buy a LB shows that he wasn't comfortable with Dickson as a backup

I agree that Dickson could be on his way I am not so sure Puncheon will be gone though.....I know his contract runs out in the summer but there does not seem to be much interest in him. Either from any of the clubs he has been loaned to or anyone else for that matter. We still have a small amount of dead wood to get rid of as well. Forecast comes to mind in that category.

I might be wrong, but i'm pretty sure Puncheon's contract doesn't end until June 2013.

But as I have already pointed out, he's only 24. He can get better. Not sure that at 27 that Harding is going to get much better though, for example. Likewise, as I've also already said, Dickson's future career path might lead him to be a LM - he certainly looked to have a decent delivery on him last season.

Furthermore, he's unproven at this level. It may turn out that he indeed isn't good enough for this level. But with the nature of the transfer windows these days, if Adkins had given him a chance and it ultimately back-fired, we'd have had to wait five months (ie until January) to rectify the situation. Much better to not take the risk, and just sign someone who is proven at this level.

I am not saying that Dickson is good enough. I'm not even calling for him to be given a chance. I am simply saying that people can't say that he's isn't good enough until he's been given that chance.

Just shows how well we are doing when so few names have been mentioned. A strong squad overall just needs a couple of new spark plugs rather than a new engine!
