We should always be looking to make the best and most suitable signings that we can.
There should be an overall plan and a style of play that we have in mind for the squad.
Academy progression should be part of it, especially in our current club-trained situation.
Our managers should be brought in based, at least partly, on whether they fit.
I find it weird that people act like we're the only club that makes signings that aren't the manager's first choice.
Virtually every club in the world does it. Some signings aren't realistic, regardless of what the manager wants.
People have got pissed off when we haven't signed players that don't want to leave the clubs they're at, even.
Why are you so desperate for Levy to get credit?
of course he will get credit.
Is he going to get the credit from the levyistas if you don't win it, don't qualify for europe and finish bottom half?
I'm not desperate at all for Levy to get credit.
I have noticed that a lot of fans are desperate to attribute anything positive about the club to anybody but Levy.
This is mindset that I'm questioning. Why are fans doing this? I'm curious that's all. Its weird. There is sometimes no balance.
You're asking the wrong question.
Huh? Firstly who are the 'Levyistas'. What even is that?
I don't know any fans who have never criticised Levy. I have zero doubt that he'll get his fair share of negative 'credit' if and when things go even further pair shaped. That's never in question, and that is my point. I know lots of fans, who never credit Levy.
Even Gary Neville, the weasel who hates the idea of Spurs bettering his beloved team, has a balanced view on Levy. More balanced than many actual fans of the club. (He wishes Levy was running Man U right now.)
Even in your response, you said, "he will get credit" as if it's against a religion of some kind to actually simply give him credit, in present tense.

Not your lot, of course. Imagine being so bad that you lose three times in a row to this Spurs side!![]()
For years, those who cannot bring themselves to view Levy's failings critically and fairly have been known as the 'BSoDL' - the Bastard Sons of Daniel Levy. Things tend not to attract a nomenclature of that sort, unless there's an acknowledged grouping to apply it to.
I was never of that group, but from the appointment of BMJ to the building of the stadium proper, we progressed as a club and a team. There were hiccups, like the appointments of Ramos and AVB, but there was a significant improvement over the years.
That stopped when the stadium was built. Poch fell out with Levy and IMHO, he had to be sacked. Since then, we've appointed ill suited coach after ill suited coach. This isn't based on hindsight. They were poor choices from the off. I didn't call Ange, because I'd never heard of him before. The others were clearly the wrong choices.
To compound matters, we've pissed away untold amounts money on sacking them and buying poor or unsuited players. We joined a barely thought out car crash of a European Super League and have failed to land outside investment and a stadium sponsor.
Yes, the NFL and Beyonce 'thing' is doing gangbusters. Well done, Daniel...but we're meant to be a football club. Barring a miraculous win in the EL, we will be out of Europe again next season. We've been shown up by Bournemouth, Forest. Brighton, etc.
Expecting football fans to praise Daniel's achievements (1 Leage Cup in 24 years) is probably expecting too much. He has taken us to a point where our failure is more annoying than Sugar's. He had no idea how to improve things at all. We could be so much better than we are right now, if Levy would **** off out of the football arena. He won't
and he's the head man. It falls on him that we're regressing.
Great post. You have said a lot of things that needed sayingIt does fall on Levy that we are regressing. Obviously and unquestionably.
We are also at the beginning of progressing, from a deep pit, in a similar way as the last period of progression that you described.

When the best young players in the continent are choosing Spurs over other teams, in numbers, this is a good thing. The rebuild the Pochettino said we needed, is finally happening. It may not be quick enough for some, but the signs are finally there. Whether we like it or not, the is being funded in large part by Beyonce, Lady Gaga. Pink, NFL etc. the revenue of which is at least as large as a stadium sponsor would be, and the stadium being called 'Tottenham Hotspur Stadium' apparently does a lot to help spread awareness of the club, so I've heard.
To say we've failed to land outside investment, but then bemoan these addition income streams is questionable to me. What is the difference?
Why are fans mad that money comes in through these other means, as opposed to a stadium sponsor? We also have all kinds of sponsorship deals, training kits sponsors. Sleeve sponsors. PL Kit sponsors. To point at the 'failure' to land a stadium sponsor and to even label it as such is weird in context of these other income generating developments. It's like we only want money coming in when it's not directly generated by the club, unless it's cup prize money. Odd to me.
Yes, Levy is flawed. He should have cut his wages and bonuses instead of raising ticket prices, which should definitely be lower. He should have backed certain managers instead of sacking them.
We, and he, knows he wants to have less to do with the football side, which is why there is a Munn, Paratici and Lange in the picture. If what they are doing is not working, are they not culpable? Is the plan that they have simply a longer term plan than we like?
Pochettino was also flawed. He should have played Lucas, in the CL final, when he was on fire instead of starting an an out of form Kane. Was that error Levy's fault? If we had won that final with everything else being the same, would we be calling for Levy's head at this point? Fine margins. (Many fans want him back now despite being aware of his flaws. Funny that.)
(I'm, curious by the way, who you believe should have been hired after Pochettino? I personally believe he should have been backed instead of sacked, that's one of Levy's errors in my view.)
I feel like there is an unhealthy negativity, and fixation, amongst some fans that is bordering on irrational. We have no divine right to win trophies. I don't believe we're being shown up by any of the sides you mention, partly because they haven't won trophies either yet. That's the thing that matters, right? There are also teams who have won trophies in Levy's tenure that are now nowhere near the premier league. Would we rather be in that position?
I am not expecting fans to praise Levy, even if we win a trophy, but limiting Levy's achievements simply to "1 League Cup in 24 years" is wild to me. A lot more positives have happened, and transformations are still in progress, that fans take for granted simply because there hasn't been a trophy win. We're beginning to sound entitled, and in my opinion that's where these sides you mention make us look stupid. They just get with supporting their teams, game after game, no entitlement. no whining because the team hasn't won whatever cup since whenever. For me, that kind of energy and support is also what makes a football club, a football club. Who said the transition to the new stadium would come without a dip, especially when you lose your best player?
I believe we listen too much the the propaganda of pundits with an obvious anti-Spurs agenda, and to rival fans taunting when actually many of them are more scared of our progress in recent times than they have been in many a decade.
I agree that Levy is a bit of an arsehole, I cringed many a time whilst watching the Amazon documentary, but he has dared to do many a thing for Spurs that other clubs wish could be done in and around their clubs, including the stadium rebuild and beyond. Acknowledging this can be done at the same time as criticising him for his ****ups. A view even as balanced as yours is rare these days. That's all I'm saying.
I also believe the success we crave is on the way. If not this season in the EL, next season in the domestic cups.
If the players have genuine belief and optimism, shouldn't we also have some?
I do14 defeats in 27 games. Poor signings every window. Lack of top quality.
Bottom half of the table. Almost certainly no European football next season. Overpriced ticket prices (hence the empty seats)
I don’t think a lot of fans wanting the club to improve on all that is entitlement.
I do
No. I want the club to improve and I just spelled that out. That's the very reason I disagree with your position. You think fans wanting the club to improve is entitlement?
