3 episodes into 1923 and I wholly agree ... enjoying it ... but not as good as 1883 ... Interesting fact - in1883 when Elsa is confronted by the Lakota she shouts out 'Nermaneh' it's the Commanche word for themselves and translates as 'the people' ... The book Dances With Wolves was not actually about the Lakota (Sioux) as in the film ... it was written by Michael Blake about the Commanche and the white woman captive, Stands With A Fist, is based on Cynthia Ann Parker who was captured as a girl and went on to marry a Commanche war chief - their son, Quannah Parker, was the last Commanche war chief to surrender to the whites ... 'Sam' refers to him in 1883 ... what a coincidence that Costner should direct the adapted film and then go on to play John Dutton whose great aunt 'married' a Commanche who talked about joining up with Quannah...
John Q is a good denzel movie that often goes under the radar. Based on this real life Incident... A man named Henry Masuka took an ER hostage in Toronto in 1999 after the ER wouldn't provide immediate care for his infant son. Masuka was shot and killed after leaving the ER
It got a bit silly for me as it went on. I like an action flick every now and then but not ones where the plot armour is a mile thick and the lead characters literally can't die despite overwhelming odds to the contrary. At least make them do something creative or inventive to escape death. It all got quite predictable as it morphed into a zombie Indiana Jones rip-off.
Just finished watching the Southport killer thing on BBC player. Horrible to hear from the people inside what he did. Hard to hold my tears tbh
Started ‘Escape from Pretoria’ with Daniel Radcliffe yesterday. Finishing it now. Set in apartheid South Africa. Pretty good so far. Netflix.

A Thousand And One 9.7/10 Clearly influenced by Spike Lee and his film Crooklyn but it's superb, highly recommended.
