Thing with Rodgers is he is pretty inexperienced like you say. I don't think anyone will properly vill the void Harry will leave should he leave but I think an experienced manager with a high reputation will be a better choice. Ancelotti seems to be the favourite and his quotes in media suggest he wants another crack in England with a big club and he certainly ticks the boxes in terms of experience, pedigree and reputation. Rijkaard as I mentioned in a earlier post would be a decent shout I think, like Ancelotti, he's got experience of managing a top team and also like Ancelotti, has won the Champions Legaue. An outside bet, Jurgen Klopp the Dortmund manager could be a good one to take over, Dortmund play nice football from what I've seen and he's built a really good team there.
 
The problem is that i've never heard of Jurgen Klopp, so i can imagine a few people haven't. It could be another Christian Gross :undecided:

If things go south for 'Arry in january this could be an appointment sooner than the summer even.
How typical would it be for us to be doing awesome by the end of jan only for our manager to get sent down?

I can't see that happening!!

For the amounts involved, I'm quite surprised that it has gone this far...plus Harry must feel he has a decent case as he could easily pay the bill with a weeks wages!!

Klopp's got a growing reputation within Europe mate, if you haven't heard of him yet I'm sure you will in the near future. In 3 years he got Dortmund their first League titile in about 10/11 years I think I read. Look at the players he's helped produce/ grow - Mario Goetze, Neven Subotic, Mats Hummels, Shinji Kagawa, Sven Bender, all of them have either gained massive reputations, been tracked by Europe's big guns and have gained first internation caps under his guidance. One of his key players from last year - Nuri Sahin, now plays for Real Madrid.
Every manager can turn out a flop or success to be fair. No one's guaranteed to bring success. When Jol was manager no one knew him, yet he got us our best league position in years and when we got Ramos, who'd just come off the back of two consecutive UEFA Cup triumphs, we expected to be in the top 4 etc and look how that turned out...

That will be just our luck. Fingers crossed Harry's in the clear!

What i was getting at though is the unknown managers _tend_ not to get given the slack that well known managers are, by some fans. Jol got around that by telling it like it is to the press, being such a nice guy, and by results on the pitch. He also came up from assistant if i remember, so he wasn't completely new.

Yeah, either way new managers are a risk, whether it be from the likes of Ancelotti or giving the job internally to say, Tim Sherwood. Neither can guarantee they'll carry on what Harry's done. I just hope whoever does replace Harry IF he leaves/ gets sent down then I hope they don't change the first team and our style of play. Our first team probably won't get much better, most of these guys are top, international players. For instance, the only players I personally see as upgrade on say Modric would be Xavi/ Iniesta, on Bale would be Ronaldo/ Messi and so on like that, them players are not only out of our league, but way out of our price range!
 
+1 on that.

Thats why i'm unsure on mourinho. He would impose his own style and mentality where what i think we need is a manager to slot in with how we are playing. That makes it difficult as its not normally done like that.

(I'm so glad that we, along with Ensil, are remembering what the actual question for this thread was. It said nothing about whether the potential managers in question should be alive. This way the debate is so much more interesting AND we get to type (doh) smilies if anyone asks whether appointing Nicholson, Churchill or Jesus is a good suggestion. Great stuff!)
 
Joe Jordan gets my vote, don't care if he's no good, the novelty factor will easily make up for it...
 
what about guest managers? A bit like the guest presenters on have i got news for you.
Harry did admit recently its mostly down to the players anyway

Maybe Noah, they believe in him, right? A squad of two in every position but you've got to be wary when he starts blowing up his dinghy.
