Agreed, but to continually bang on about the attendances when they care clearly porkies is a nonsense.
He's desperate. Fans who attend home games know the score, maybe that little bit of distortion was for Carter's benefit.
This regime is worse than Sandgaard. Even if the 15,200 average attendance was remotely true, which it isn’t, it would be heavily massaged by Methven’s You Tuber giveaway v Wrexham. How many of the 10,000 “new fans” we saw that day (or didn’t in my case) have paid to come back since ?
Mundell is strangely quiet since his favourite CEO’s pants caught fire on Charlton TV last night ? I still don’t understand the claim that commercial revenues are up this season. How can they be, when there are clearly even fewer paying customers ? I haven’t noticed the Commercial Dept signing any lucrative sponsorship deals ?
There has been an overwhelmingly negative reaction overnight from our fanbase to any attempt to brand the Valley with a sponsor’s name. The main objection, which I totally share, is that any new stadium sponsor money clearly would not be spent on the team next season (particularly with EFL spending rules about to change), but on Methven’s No.1 KPI of shrinking the club still further, to make a future sale more attractive (ie: balancing the books). Anyone who thinks that Amazon are going to give Charlie Methven £5m to re-brand the Valley, and then Methven spends that £5m on re-strengthening the tiny squad this summer, is either a naive fool, or more likely, Seriously Red. It’s yet another greedy, money grabbing exercise with no concern for our club’s heritage.
He's definitely in charge lock stock...nobody can get rid of this turnip. We have to wait until he sells up. Investors are not remotely interested in the football team, only the fact we're an offshore entity. Still haven't uttered a single word about how proud they are to own us etc nowt, nothing. It's all about Charlie and chums.
You could see that from the body language of the SMT at the recent Fan’s non Q&A - they all deferred to Methven, especially Gavin Carter.
To be fair to him, I though his job was to observe what the executives are doing (he's a non-exec isn't he?) and report to the owners. Or maybe I've misunderstood.
Okay, but if that is the case surely he should have some clout if he is reporting his findings back to the owners?
We don't know how much weight his observations will carry, or how much anyone really cares. It's all business politics. Mundell & SR would doubtless be fascinated
He's not going to tear a strip off the CEO in front of the fans. The owners are a closed book, who knows who they are, or what discussions are taking place about the running of the club. I'm no fan of Methven, but he’s all we've got. If anyone else had wanted to relieve Sandgaard of the club we'd have heard.
Update- Many fans, me included, have been in contact with our new Fan’s Rep today (Jewish Jon on Twitter). He has agreed to put directly to the SMT questions about what the stadium sponsor money would be used for , specifically 1. To plug the fictitious black hole, 2. To spend it on our tiny squad this Summer.
The only way the stadium name sponsorship money will bolster out squad is if CAFC decides to enter a Subbuteo tournament. Then it would quite literally have a tiny squad
When I first heard that l was totally convinced that we were duped. We shouldn’t have any need for covert Carter!. Imagine thinking it’s normal to have billionaire owners but also needing an in-house snitch to pass on the inside intel! It’s all horse manure. There are no billionaire owners just like there were none at Sunderland. Just lenders imo who have no need for communication with fans as they didn’t lend us anything. They’ll have loaned it to Charlie and it’s him they’ll communicate with in the same way a bank communicate with those it lends money to. It doesn’t communicate with friends or neighbours and why should it. Just my opinion on the situation.
