Actually Everton are riding a post takeover wave similar to what happened here. That's all gone now here. PSR hasn't helped that's for sure.

Everyone knew the bottom would fall away when Ferguson retired, but no one expected it to be this bad. Ferguson's approved mate Moyes was a disaster and they've been nothing since then. Erik Ten Hag and Solskjaer must be feeling very smug now.
Ferguson was amazing. But the last season or so he knew his players where past their peak. And the club didn’t invest right.
It would appear so and look at West Ham.. Guy won a trophy then they wanted him out. Football has gone mad.
Their DoF was the issue, wanting to buy players that Moyes didn't want and wouldn't work in his system
Part of me would like to think that's why PM hasn't rushed in to first team signings and is looking at the system played by EH
