If the immigrants are working age it's a net positive for Poland. If they're retirement age it might not be.

Fortunately for Poland, most immigrants tend to be working age.

I don’t mind them being well paid for doing their jobs, on condition that they don’t get paid for doing other things while they’re supposed to be working for us.

I reckon it should be a rule that if you become an MP, you're only an MP and dedicate your time entirely to the job.

I know some MPs are doctors and nurses etc, but too many of them are working as political consultants or advisors and acting as lobbyists for their private clients. Others sit on board of directors for businesses and there's a whole host of conflicts of interests inherent in all of that.

That's even before you get to the issue of how many hours they should be spending doing their MP work as opposed to what they do in second jobs.

£82k or whatever the salary is now, should be more than enough for them to live on.

    What's minimum wage these days?

Give them all that for a year and see how quickly they start valuing the working class.

technically they didn't they just agreed an "independent" recommendation which linked it to pay rises for public sector workers

though noticeable they picked teachers and nurses who both had decent pay rises rather than the likes of DWP staff :emoticon-0112-wonde

He's a one man union, don't start work until 10am, finish by 4pm and by noon on Fridays, No weekend working and goes on strike when it's raining - pays no union fees and does his own tax deductions that get converted into splifs and lager.

Talk of minimum wage... US Federal minimum wage is only £5.76 converted into GBP. (A few States like California and Colorado have higher minimum wages).

You can work a whole days shift and have less than £50 and then have taxes taken out of that.

Groceries cost 33% more in US and average rent costs 22% more than UK average.

It's absolutely mental how little some people are paid here.
