I'd have liked to win obviously, but I wouldn't say "should have".

 

I don’t want to go down the arsenal tin hat route, but Rio saying ‘ahh it’s given offside’ … then a few seconds later - ding onside …. Does make you wonder

 

Well, you probably could say "should have" at the 95min mark. Hell, make that 96min or 97min of you like...

 

Thought we were incredibly lucky to go ahead - they were all over us at that point. That said, for 10 minutes after that they were dead on their feet and we just fannied about rather than go for the throat. At that moment though Oliver just turned a blind eye when Mo was blatantly brought down on the edge of their box, and he was only 15 yards away from it. But after the Prickford/Virgil assault, we'll get nothing from that overrated ponce.

We now had to win 12 of our last 14. Our form this month, bar Spurs, has been meh. Even Bournemouth could have easily been a draw. Think it's all going to come down to the head-to-head against Arsenal - shades of '89? Oh, and talking of years, both recent seasons we lost the league by one point ('19 and '22) we dropped vital points at Goodison. Not good omens tonight.

Will Oliver face any scrutiny for this at all? He truly seems above reproach.

 

Will face no scrutiny. Criticise the referee? That is a red card for you Mr. Slot and because of the rules, once a manager is sent off, they lose media obligations.
So he cannot express his concerns on the refereeing post-match.
If he were not sent off, but criticised the officiating in his post-match interview, he would be fined.
So again cannot express his concerns on the refereeing.

These measures are in place to protect the refs and we wonder why we have an incompetent officiating body that self-regulates and is free from consequence.

 

All whilst the referee himself doesn't have to face a camera or answer to anybody.

If it's not corruption, it's incompetence.

 

Inevitably, just as with Arsenal fans 2 weeks ago, some of our brain-dead "fans" will write death threats or something abhorrent about Oliver. The PGMOL will use this again to detract against him facing justifiable criticism.

 

I've seen quite a lot of Arsenal and Man Utd fans criticising Oliver after tonight's game too. Says a lot

 

Now, c'mon you can't really want that do you? You want some Southern team to win the title?

 

Should have was based on where both clubs are at the moment (table, not Merseyside).

Never in this world was that a foul for any team.
Salah cut the ball back and turned straight into one of the defenders chasing him.
Probably lucky he didn't get booked for assaulting the defender.
