I agree with previous posters that it is an exciting time come the summer, whether we are a Premier League club or a Championship club.

I'm a bit down on our hopes of automatics at the min, but it could all change in a week. This after being very confident of us getting top two.

I have to say, I can't see us losing the amount of players in that "worst case scenario post", in fact, in terms of the likely to leave/should leave, I'm sure Jobe, Neil, Cirkin and Watson will all leave.
With that said, valuations surely stand at:
Jobe - at least 25 million
Neil - at least 15 million
Watson - at least 10 million
Cirkin - at least 10 million

Obviously, each to their own, these could by higher or lower. I personally think these are fair, especially with add ons considered (percentage of sell ons are a long term thing).

On top of those, up in the air is probably Ballard, Rigg, Hume. Patta I just don't see it.

In fact I'd be shocked if Rigg left given he's still developing, it'd be daft to go anywhere in England, because we are a top club with a great wealth of talent in every aspect, knowledge and ability included. Why go to the premier league unless you're good enough? At the moment he isn't.

It'll be intriguing to see how we act if we go up though, weve got 20 or so million to go towards Le Fee.

I think Rigg would see that he would probably be the main man in midfield alongside Aleksic and possibly Triantis.

Just a thought.
If we sold some players I reckon whatever we get we would probably be spending what looks like half of it.
Jobe going means a sum to Birmingham, I don’t know if any of the others have any strings attached. Hume has but will not be a huge amount.

What I’m getting at is, if we ended up selling some players for say £60m, we should be thinking along the lines of £30m for the replacements.
I doubt that £60m of sales would mean £60m to spend.
We would be holding some back for the January window and if, for example, Neil stays, he would be getting a rise (as would some of the other assets)

Still a lot to spend in the Championship but not near what the 3 coming down will have.

On the bright side, the deals Speakman has been making, Isidor for example, we can expect some top talent to arrive even with only half the money received from sales.

I think we have cover to replace most leavers (if there are any) but its then replacing them to keep the strength in depth. Thats where personally I think KS has done a bloody good job in the main.

And Browne too, it'd be a solid midfield. It's a great opportunity for us to produce good young players for the long term, but promotion is obviously preferred. Imagine the money where we go up, even if we come straight back down. There'll be more money with parachutes on top.

I've been comfortable with the aim being playoffs all season.

Getting promoted will give KS and SH a whole new world to operate in.

I don't think there will be a mass exodus if we don't go up, as some are expecting. In terms of % chance of moving, I would call:

Jobe 100% - Definitely will be away. Too many admirers circling now
Neil 70% - Think there will be offers for Neil, particularly after the season he's having. Only his Sunderland roots and a much improved contract offer are likely to prevent that from happening.
Watson 55% - There will be a few after him, but given what Speakman said about his Winter Brighton move, I would hope he would give Sunderland another season.
Hume 60% - If there is Premier interest, I think the club would be willing to listen to offers, particularly if Huggins recovers well. Trai might also feel it's time to move on.
Cirkin 50% - Normally I would expect him to go, but considering how he's seen what's happened to Jack Clarke, another one who moved up too early and had his career rejuvenated here, he may think twice about moving, provided our new contract offer was a reasonable one.
Patterson 40% - Will have a few enquiring. Depends on the offer if the club accepts. We may want to cash in while we can.
Rigg 30% - His family have been very sensible with their advice to him up to now. I think they would advise him to play 1 more season as a first choice midfielder.
Ballard 20% - His form and injuries this season will not have clubs breaking the door down

Of course, we will lose Le Fee, Danns and Mepham, so there will be a lot of work to be done in the summer irrespective of which league we're in.

Caveat: This is just my opinion, looking from the outside in and not being privy to each of the above's personal feelings and that of the club.

It's a bit of a worry in a way...its probably harder to operate when teams think you're ****in loaded

On this thread? All good posts in my opinion, why not address the points you disagree with?
To be honest mate, there weren't any points to address. The arbitrary, baseless speculation of what these players might be worth, without a shred of knowledge of their contract details, together with the suggestion we could sell nigh on eight or nine first team players in one go,and then to anticipate what we would do with the proceeds, in my opinion, is nothing more than fantasy and illusion.

Fail to go up and I'd expect us to lose Jobe 20m, Neil 12m, Ballard 8m Hume 10m, Watson 8m and Cirkin 8m due to his injury record.

I'd be happy to see what Speakman and Harvey could do with 66m. My main concern would be that Speakman may think it's ready for the next step up at a Prem team

No way is Jobe going for 20m.

They knocked back 13m for Tommy Watson if rumors are true but say it was more like 6-8m they knocked back for a player with 18 months on his deal and a handful of senior appearances, it would suggest they are going to not see value in 20m for someone who has been first team regular for two seasons is contracted until the summer of 28 and is having a absolutely great season!

I’d be asking Man City what they want for Callum Doyle to leave permanently

Plenty of experience now and at 21 has plenty of room to improve. Done well here previously and versatile which is a big plus. Comfortable at LCB and LB
