Perhaps this was much more a barrier in the past, but I think the structures of how to run footballs clubs properly have trickled down somewhat from the initial advantage of the Premier clubs who broke away and failed to maintain prem status after..... like your Coventrys and Middlesbroughs and Sheffield clubs, Nottingham forest even plus many more I missed.

because of the financial struggles of those not in that club who never made it or survived it. English clubs are much more careful now in how they climb UK the pyramid, Southampton years back were a good example of how smaller clubs can compete, probably Bournemouth are the best example now of how smart recruitment and a solid club style and recruitment staff can see you raise you profile and maintain it.

Not sure if thats wrong or right I'm just chatting away

The clubs are no more careful sad to say, they are all chasing the dream, it's got worse now the National League want a piece of the cake. I see they are trying to push for three up three down for the NI & L2 next season - I hope they get what they want, BUT what concerns me is it's all about the money at the top again. That's why you get Hollywood people taking over clubs like Wrexham...and with that comes the new generation of expectation...until it all goes tits up, then all the fans will disappear and they will be left with hardcore few, if they are still alive from them days. Even the National League is being slowly torn in half because of the money.

I've got no problem with them joining the pyramid, my take on it for years/decades is that L2 and the NL should be split into a North/South divide, so to make more local games for the smaller fan bases and financially restrained clubs - however, people I've spoken to in the past have given me reasons why it might not work, and why it moved from that before my time...and they were valid reasons, afterall clubs like Exeter and Plymouth and the likes of Carlisle are always going to have to put in the miles. My fear now is the reasons it's being done, ie not for the reasons I've stated but they want better access to chase that dream, and if it's agreed how are they going to keep the spending under control, well they won't, more celebrities will come in and buy up the clubs...or Arabs. Much like my club bringing in a rich American....and my lot are still cryiing! <laugh> so much so I kept off Twitter yesterday, ****ed off with reading it every weekend.

Seems like a reasonable and logical idea tbh but as you say there's other arguments against it that are just as valid.

L2 is the pits, and don't I know it lol. Anything that helps improve it, I feel making it regional would, but as I said, lots of arguments against and I couldn't argue them in the past, so certainly not going to try now. Once you get to L1 it's fine...and they need to leave that alone, but even the money tears that, because we end up with all the Prem drop outs eventually.

Been a while but I watched Bury quite a lot in L2 as I had mates who supported them and was at uni in the middle of the country so did away days all over the place and thought the standard was often pretty good.

Bwood even when they were in the National League and winning regularly was dire 90% of the time. Even worse now.

Think the only L2 game I’ve done recently was Bromley v Carlisle this season and that was tragically poor.
