'Cheating' being buying the best players? .. that kind of 'cheating' enabled Liverpool's success .. and Uniteds
Personally, I don’t see it as a rivalry at all. Not in the same locale, not been duking it out for decades… for me there’s a few things that make Man U struggling somewhat more satisfying than other sides. 1) Keegan title blow up. No more needed to be said… still hurts. 2) The decade or so after picking up plastic glory fans globally, winning bloody allsorts (fair play) but having a cock sure attitude with it made it very easy to dislike the club. 3) Genuinely being the biggest club in the world not long ago means that a fall from the perch is a very visible and high profile thing. Lots of fans find it entertaining to see you (temporarily) struggling. We’re not alone in that. Trying to force a rivalry (which we’re accused of regularly) would be extremely odd. Just laughing at your misfortune due to some of the aforementioned points, not so much. Every time you’ve competed late in European competitions over the years, I’ve wanted you to win, same as every other English side, despite my allegiances. Still funny when you go out early doors though. It’ll always be the same, unless you become genuinely **** for an extended period.
They'll be the same but a good example of what I said about the values and foundations and values laid by Busby. Utd dont have players that understand and have both the character and ability to carry them out, Fergie was a genuis at seeing that in a player, it's why he turned some not great players into legends of the club. In hindsight Klopp as a man was basically made for Liverpool it terms of his values on and off the pitch and it's now no surprise we found success with him, we were in Utds position now after the 80s cos the boot room was all but gone and naturally like when Fergie left Utd we failed to maintain those values in getting the right character of player who understands what is expected at both clubs which is excellence through hard work and never giving anything but your all until the very end.
It's mainly the plastics that cry the loudest about 'cheating' - if arab owners had come in and done exactly the same in the 70s, 80s 90s etc it would not have contravened any contrived anti-competion rules
