  2. I like to think that much of Suarez's behaviour can be put down to his finally realising that he made the wrong choice going to 'Pool, when he should have come to us. He must watch us and think to himself "Blimey! I'd love to be playing in that squad!" (only in Uruguayan, of course).

The great thing is, he'll be saying to all his South American mates, "Don't dream about making a move to these Mickey Mousers, because they are ****e!" (only in Uruguayan, of course).

Every season (regardless of player quality) the media hype Loserpool up to be PL contenders, when in reality their squad is not top 4 quality. Unfortunately we will have to listen to and watch this nonsense every season as the hoards of media Liverpool glory supporters proliferate their deluded beliefs.

  4. They're all living off the dream of a 'Pool from a bygone era. The 'Pool of today really ought to have been relegated after having gone into administration. Instead, another Yanky came in with a bargain-basement offer, looking to make a fast buck. Okay, so they are not as bad as Blackburn's Indian chicken farmer wideboys, but they are not far off.

What always gets me is they were banging on about how Americans know nothing about football in thew Hicks/Gilette era, but somehow that's not a problem with the Americans that took over...

I recall hearing on the grapevine that sometime in the 90's, when they had 6-8 straight away games in all competitions, they were allegedly just £1000 away from going out of business. Shame...

Spurs are 8 points clear of Liverpool and we have a game in hand.

And Liverpool spent a further £32.8 million in the summer, compared with Tottenham's net income of £24.5 million from player transfers...

Coulibaly cost £2m? I could've sworn it was less than that.

Liverpool's best signing cost the least of those that actually required a fee.
    Interesting.

I've seen a fee of £7m quoted for Coates, but I have no idea how reliable that is.
It would push their gross spend to over £60m if true, though.

One part being able to point at his goalscoring record, one part his experience in Europe, and two parts the English Premium.

Well his record with us was 12 in 73 (wikipedia) which is 1 in 6. Not a brilliant record and i wouldn't be using it in the negotiations.
    Europe/english - fair enough
He's in his 30s too, which means little or no sell on which would count against him too.

    I think £12m was a great deal.

In European competitions his record is 24 in 56, whilst his league record is 102 in 379. There's quite a bit of smoke and mirrors involved, but one in four is good going for a mid-table side.

Seems everytime a player makes a dirty/late tackle on a player today, he's looking at the ref, shaking his fingers to say I didn't really do it.Must have been someone else!
Oh for the days of Dave Mackay, when he would put the player in the stand with an "honest" slide tackle ( and the ref as well,if he was close)!

Exactly. It's a finely calibrated dirty play, exactly the sort of thing that should be punished harshly. Though it's interesting, isn't it--looks like Spearing (great name, btw) wants to dump Dembele on his Arsenal, but not actually to injure him.

    From the BBC:

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association over an allegedly abusive hand gesture during the 1-0 defeat at Fulham on Monday.

Suarez appeared to raise the middle finger of his left hand towards the home fans as he left the pitch.

Liverpool have also been charged with failing to control their players after the dismissal of Jay Spearing.

The club said they would review the FA documentation before making comment.

Suarez and Liverpool have until 1600 GMT on Monday 12 December to respond to both charges.

Considering they didn't appeal Spearing's (probable) red, I'm not sure they'd have much of a case with this one...

By the same token they recieved 'undisclosed' small amounts for some players sold. 1.5m for Konchesky etc., so it shouldn't alter the net spent much. Interesting stuff and well done Damien Comolli. :D

For the swearing I think he'll get a fine and a 2 game suspended ban like Ade did for his "inciting fans" or whatever they want to call it.

The whole racism thing seems to be grinding to a halt. Either both get off the hook or 4 game bans for both him and Terry with appeals knocking them down to 2.

Speaking of appeals, anyone have any idea why Rooney had his ban reduced to 2? Looks like obvious violent conduct to me, which has always been 3 games. Those brown envelopes have been back out to save the day, perhaps.

The cynical in me says that UEFA don't want the comp being diminished by not having one of the "best players in the world" present. Fab probably said "we can't take him if its 3 games".
Plus, Wayne's agreed to pick up UEFAs rubbish, or whatever the community service for UEFA actually means. I hope it means licking Platini's face all day.
