Lots of talk of the Kane 'get-out' clause this summer and Spurs having first dibs... Estimated at around £70m...

Should we bring him back and build around him for a couple of years? Or is he just not the right fit anymore?
Or would he want to return anyway? <laugh>

I don’t think it’s true but even if it were I doubt he’d want to return just yet.

IF on the off chance he did, it’d be a no brainer. Best striker on the planet right now.

I think it is true. Levy let the cat out of the bag a little in one of those fan forum things. Saying he might come back. Then tried to back track as if he misspoke.

Levy wouldn't be saying that if no such clause existed.

I also agree it's a no brainer.

Imagine have Kane as one of the striker options alongside Solanke.

Yeah absolutely, best striker depth we’ll have had since Berbatov, Keane and Defoe (and Bent…).

I'd take him back for twice that amount.

If Richarlison is apparently worth £60m, Harry is worth a billion.

Most reports say he's very happy out there and enjoying himself. I'd imagine they'll win the league this year but will miss out on the CL. He'll want to give the latter a real go before leaving. I think he'll definitely stay another year and if he achieves that trophy, could look to come back for 26/27.

If he did, the Poool could come in for him.
Likelihood of him doing any of the following would be high :

- win the PL
- win the CL
- setting the PL scoring record

We are now in all of the cups. We were in none this time last season. That is an improvement in cup form.

This is as true a statement as saying the league form is worse.

Facts.

Cup form was near impossible to go backwards from last year.

Cup form also doesn’t really matter unless you win it imo.

If there is any chance Kane would want to come back then I’d sell the stadium to make it happen <laugh>

I think there is clause that says Tottenham get first refusal to match any PL offer.

I agree with your first point. So we agree we went forwards in the cups.

On the second point, I thinks players would see it differently to you, and to most fans. I imagine, the further the team gets, the more the belief in their capability grows. If not for this season, for the next.

Also, we haven't been knocked out yet. Let's see what happens.

Getting further is better but constantly losing semi finals and finals is depressing.

Just checked the odds for tonight as thought maybe it was just me who thought it was a big big ask to qualify tonight after being called a pessimist and not a realist.

Guess it’s not just me

For fans, yes.

For players, the more finals you reach, the more skills and experience you develop, and the more chance you have winning one.

This is how you build winning mentality. No?

History says otherwise. You need killers and finishers in finals, Spurs lack those and always seem to be.

Just after the World Cup so Poch may be looking for work as well. Sets up a perfect fairytale ending with him and Harry (hopefully with a World Cup winners medal in tow) leading us to the title!

You mean the League One title? <laugh>

How about we sell Romero, Reguilon, Bissouma, Bentancur, Maddison, Richarlison and possibly Son, use the cash to buy just two players of the highest quality possible probably at CF and CB and rely on youth for all the other places.
Squad would be:
Vicario, Kinsky, Austin
Porro, Spence, Udogie, Donley
New signing, Van der Ven, Dragusin, Vuskovic, Danso, Phillips, Dorrington
Gray, Abbott, Hall
Devine, Bergvall, Sarr
Tel, Kulesevski, Johnson, Moore, Odobert, Yang
New signing, Solanke, Scarlett, Veliz

Would he want to live in Liverpool though? And could they afford his wages? Also they’ve not given Salah a 3 year deal so doubt they’d give Kane a long term contract

The main issue is our midfield needs an overhaul, because we're both lacking a proper DM (though Gray could be the solution, if there was ever enough CBs to let him try) coupled with our midfield lacking in technique that means it can't dictate a game from the middle but also can't relieve pressure by taking out a pressing player with a quick bit of control due to physicality being prioritised...which has mainly left us watching misplaced passes and poor moments of control invariably leading to our defence being called into action again

Bissouma is surely off this summer due to his lapses in concentration being costly, and Bentancur is making a good case to join him with some of his lackadaisical showings this season, but that leaves us with only Alfie Devine as a potential replacement so we obviously need to add some quality there to go with Bergvall and Sarr

The wings are another place to look at: Johnson has a place in the squad as a pacey option off the bench as well as working in the Clint Dempsey/Jay Rodriguez role coming in on the far post, but he's not a starter. Obviously we have Deki as the first-choice, but presuming we change to a 4231 formation the No10 role is going to either Deki or Maddison (with Donley an outside shot) so that could create a berth on the right wing (though this depends on where tel ends up playing)

As for CF, we clearly need a rapid Jermain Defoe-like striker on the bench and pretty much have since the Poch era, something Richy isn't and neither is Veliz
