"If you want to go forward you have to keep your good players and buy some good new players also because next year you want play for the top 5."

Something that caught my attention from the Tiote interview, is this something that the club has promised Tiote to get him to sign the new contract? If so it shows amazing ambition and would suggest that they plan to do a fair bit of business in the summer...

Let's hope so, its been very encouraging this year for a first year after promotion.

It's been fantastic so far considering we all would have happily accepted 17th before the season began. We now need to build on this incredible season. If we can add to our superb crop of players I will be very ambitious for the season ahead. Top 6 and europe maybe, who knows.

Didnt Pardew say we were one of the top 5 clubs in the country when he took over? Top 7 is one thing, (and we are capable) but top 5 is a huge huge challenge. It means ousting one of:

Man U - no chance
Man City - very doubtful, they will only get better
Arsenal - cant see the dropping below fourth in the forseeable future, especially with the likes of Wilshere improving year by year. If they sell Fabregas in a year or two they might start slipping
Chelsea - if they continue to slip, and with Drogba, Anelka and Lampard entering the final years of their careers it is not out of the question that they could slip
Spurs - if Redknapp goes to manage England, or they lose Modric/Bale/van der Vaart they could be on the way down

even then we still face Liverpool, and if things return to normal, Everton and Villa. And like it or not, the mackems are in the run for it too.
